does this mean that there will now be less Russian tourists?  well not all bad news then , some of the rudest people i have ever come across.

+1.  Posted Image

I dislike most any type of stereotyping but I tell you, it seems the majority of Russian males in Pattaya are a bread to themselves. I really like Koh Larn but won't even go there anymore because I am so sick of being disturbed by drops of beet on me or screaming over my wife's and I beach chairs and opening our eyes to see, in too close proximity, a g-string type swimming suits disappear into unusually large and bright pink sunburned buttocks  or seeing their front package looking like it was tied in a knot then stuck into the smallest swim suit they could find that barely covers their while leaving ample room for their large guts to rest on said junk.

#3903406 Thai Immigration Introduces Jail Time For Overstayers

If they want to clear out the rubbish, introduce a 1 month amnesty after that anyone who overstays should be fair game.

A welcome move. Let us just hope they stick with it.

now....lets wait for the "if it wasn't for me, Thailand would fall in a heap" replies.

#3898834 More Thai Women In Swedish Sex Trade

The missing part of the article is the section naming names.  The Thai women would not be able to enter into Sweden without Swedish nationals assisting and facilitating the  process. The police have some of the names. True, one is innocent until proven guilty and one does have the right to privacy. However, nothing precludes an anonymous tip and a diligent reporter doing the leg work. Winter will soon be upon the land of ice and snow. Seems like a good time for a reporter to go and visit Pattaya and ask some questions around some of the  bars/brothels operated by the implicated local parties.

Of course there are ruthless criminals everywhere, but what man and his penis is not ruthless when the hormones kick in??? What these governements are really trying to do is make men eunichs and women men, in the quest for A social equality that doesn't exist biologically. I believe in the long run, maybe 100 more years, the societies will collapse as people become so dysfunctional that they stop procreating...Oh, wait a minute, hasn't it started already??? Population control is necessary, but not genital control, which is really robbing men of their biological rights--and women as well. How governements view this is a moral stance, yet their morality is usually one of economic thinking which robs them of their biological sense. What would their ancestors, the VIKINGS have to say about this??? I can see their scouls already. I am sure they would not support a lack of sexual outlets, and if it came to a vote, I think it would be 100%. Let's face it, without a VIKING history no one would think of the SWEDES at all; so be proud of your history of RAPE, PILLAGE AND PLUNDER. Anyway, with the standard of living in decline, the world in permanent recession (it was built on phony stimulus which borrowed against the future...weren't these guys smart?) we will never have the standard of living in the West that we had as a consumption oriented society, so these girls are probably, in the long run, better off in a highly developed society than their own. It is shocking for Christian societies to see sex available like that isn't it? PRUDES!

The things that qualify as news?? The realm has long been know for it's thriving sex industry (almost 3 million on the game in country)

Add in that there is not a country on the planet where Thais are not engaged as working girls,

And as for who is responsible, let us start with the parents who financially benefit (no questions asked) the traffickers starting with the procurers in Thailand.

It is one very sick society that sells it's women in the prime of their lives. "nuff said"

I guess some of you aren't the "high quality" tourists Thailand seeks.

#3851338 Embassy Pension Letter

This old-timer is hoping that the in-laws enjoy the house. Too bad the mother-in-law and father-in-law are not around to live there. I certainly will not be living there anytime soon. It was built with cheap living in mind and that is certainly not the case any longer. I can live just as cheaply in the house I own in GA in the USA and not have the barking dogs, blaring loud-speakers at 0500 and noisy roosters that cannot tell time. If I want Isaan food, I go up the road to the Lao-Isaan community and eat, drink and speak all things Isaan. I can even get Singha beer at a good price. So, at 30-baht to the dollar, I will stay where I am and live out my days without the need to fight immigration and jump through their friggin' hoops. I will do my visit every year or so and be happy with that. Chok dee, Thailand.........Oh, here I am not worried about wearing the wrong color shirt either.

I think I am going to appy for OA at home. While the baht continues to appreciate and it's killing me, US26k can be invested. Money sitting in these banks earn nothing plus you have inflation. Then you have tax.

Pure folly really. You can buy a house in states clear (or maybe better now, rent?) and live in that house easily for that sum of money. Spend your winters here. For me, its a matter of time, Im sizing up the Pac NW and BC Canada as will as Mid Atlantic and select Florida,

In Thailand you cannot own land and under many terms of visas cannot even own a car - so what exactly are you spending that huge wad of cash on? Then you have the mystery that f married - you need half that amount to support no less than double (2) the people.

Its not about what makes sense, or right its about how high farang jump.

#3842486 Increasing Snootiness Of Phuket Resident Expats

Posted KarenBravo on 2010-08-27 12:27:10

Over the decades, as the Phuket resident expat population has increased exponentially, I have noticed a change from the original non-judgemental, live-and-let-live attitude that used to prevail.
Now it seems that people need to look down on someone. Look no further than this forum for examples.
People who don't go to the bars seem to have a holier-than-thou attitude to those that do enjoy a night on a bar crawl.
Those who are married are never slow to inform others that their wife is Thai-Chinese, hi-so, or a professional; never a bar-girl.
Some people who live in the Bangtao - Surin area look down on those that live in Chalong - Rawai and they all look down on Patong residents.
Car drivers look down on those that ride motorbikes (literally).
There is a thread running about a meet-up for "like-minded" individuals, which kinda infers that people that don't think in a certain way are not welcome.

Anybody else noticed this increased "I'm better than you attitude"? If so, any other examples?

Why do some people get involved in something that is of no concern to them, I am glad he is going and i hope others with the same view leave as well.

I wholeheartedly agree. None of us foreigners who spend our money and live here should have any opinion at all on anything to do with Thailand and should do an Oliver Twist and just hold out our bowls for as much sh*t, harassment and shakedowns as the Thais want to give us. None of us should complain, none of us should take any interest in human rights abuses, corruption or other unsavory practices.

We should all just forget everything we've ever thought about morals, integrity, fairness or honesty the moment we get off the plane and exist in out own little cocoons oblivious to anything that is going on around us - then this will be a very empty forum left just to people asking the price of a motorbike tire or where to buy Marmite

Unless you have permanent resident card or become a Thai citizen, then I say stay out of their affairs.  'Guests' are welcome to leave anytime they choose if they think Thailand is such a horrible country to retire in.  I'm not Thai but I do work and pay taxes here so I do have a bit more right to bitch but even I know better to stay out of their affairs.  If you wish to protest then write a letter to www.hrw.org .

Well done ,I think its time for many foreigners to understand NOT to interfere in Thailand politics. After all we are only guests here . Hope this story will be set as example for the future.

We all have right to express our conscience. There are consequences however. With your type of thinking, the world will never become a better place.

Did you protest in front of Thaksin's house when he butchered and murdered people during the so called drug cleansing?

There's a time and place to protest peacefully.
