In Topic: Thailand Elite Card: TAT Hopes To Present Revamped Project To Cabinet By End...

Posted Image In your time around the bars did you ever run into one of those bargirls who "liked" you and wanted to go with you "tonight, but  you no pay me"?
Of course you knew it was a scam amd imeadiately the alarm bells started ringing when she said that.
Same thing with the "Thai Elite Card" scam.
The first time I rread about it the alarm bells were sounding loud.
I knew right away they couldn't possibly provide the LIFETIME benefits they promised on what they wanted me to pay.
Still the same today, as far as I can see.
I didn't then, and certainly don't today, have the money to invest anyhow.
But I said then it was a scam, and will say today that, unless the rules/benefits/and costs are chamged drastically; it's still a scam.
You have a better possibility of actually finding that bargirl.

In Topic: Thb Is Getting Stronger And Stronger Our Euro Is Getting Weaker

Posted Image Enjoy it while you can.
My personal opinion only....but the people in the U.K. who somehow believe that the Euro collapse ....(inevitable now that Greece will default and now Spainish banks are showing problems)..... and that Eurozone and Euro collapse will not affect the GBP are deluding themselves.
All the European economies are like a house of cards....Greece, Spain next, then Italy....and all the rest of the cards will be falling sooner or later.
Yes, the Pound will be insulated somewhat....but the Eurozone turmoil will cause problems for the pound also.
As for the Euro...it's basically toliet paper now.
In fact the whole world economy will shake. It's all smoke-and-mirrors anyhow....based on an illusion....and backed by nothing but hot air and illusionary paper profits.
The Euro first, then the Pound and the U.S. dollar will come under pressure. Exactly how hurt they will be it's anyone's guess.
The days of "western" economic dominence are going fast if not gone already.....and it's never coming back.
The old Europe is on it's last legs, and Asia (especially China) will take it's place.
And the last time I looked at a map London was closer to Brussels than to Beijing.

Posted Image You're presuming the farang idea of fixed price goods.
Haggeling is the thing in Asia and Thailand is no exception.
So if the first stand is selling an item at 50 baht....and the next stand is will haggle down to 45 baht for that same item...the next stand gets the sale.
That kind of logic...haggeling about the price....keeps customers circulating around the stalls...and insures that eventually all the stalls get their share of customers purchases.
THais (and many Asians too) don't see the market simply as a place to go to only to buy something....it also has a social fundtion...a place where you meet other people and socialise.
Those two things are why Asian markets are together in one area. not spread about the city like markets in Europe or the U.S.
Asian markets are a place you stop for a social break, to meet peoplde, to relax a bit, and maybe buy something...but that purchase is secondary to the social interaction/mixing with others.
A century or two ago, that was what a "market" was considered to be in England too....before the concept of a market was changed.

Posted Image Of course you have no manufacturer's documentation or schematic diagrams of the unit?
Is it a seperate power unit that could be replaced?
If so that power unit could be removed and a new unit installed.
No RF license involved there....just a replacement part,
The problem will be part numbers and finding a replacement part or parts. Might be a manufactuers part number which can't be referenced to anything else.
Almost surely built in somwhere like China or another Asian country....but finding who and replacement parts will be a big hassle.
Some kind of documentation or schematic diagrams would be first step....so you're not searching blindly about.
"Old school" troubleshooting is a bit of a lost art in these days of throw-away electronics.

What holiday is May 28th?
The last Monday in May (28th) is a Bank Holiday in the UK (Spring Bank Holiday) - so the Thai Embassy will be closed for sure and also probably the UK Thai Consulates.

U.K.  bank holiday.....o.k. that explains it.
Also be aware that Vesak Day on 4 June is a Buddhist holiday in Thailand and listed as a Thai public holiday....expect the Thai Embassy and consulates to be closed that day also.
