#5323449 Thai Wife Underpaid In Uk

Posted cdnvic on 2012-05-23 03:09:24

For many it's a confidence thing that will take time to sort out. Right now she's feeling comfortable in an environment where her language skills are less of an issue and that's something she's willing to trade better wages for. Once she settles in and feels more comfortable in the community, and improves her English skills, she will be more motivated to find a better situation for herself. You just need to be patient with her because the issue to her is not money, but reducing the shock to her system as she integrates into UK society.

#5240506 House Buying

Posted dksharron on 2012-04-22 14:36:16

You really need to have her get the divorce first, before you enter into any kind of legal arrangement / contract with her or before she acquires any assets.

She can sue for the divorce, and he will have to show in court.

If she is not / has not been living with him for a long time, then the court will grant the divorce, not immediately, but it will be granted.

Put off the house purchase until this is completed.  If you have a deposit on it, then walk away from it.

Better to lose it than to lose the rest of the investment.

Other houses will become available over time.

If your gf simply has to have this house, then think about this for a while, and think about her wanting you to make an unsafe investment.

Best of luck.

#5226296 Medical Insurance For A Farang

i dont care how much it costs (within reason )
i dont want to have to struggle around wounded or bleeding  looking for the cheapest hospital i can find  in case of  some accident  etc
so a complete policy i think would be beneficial

would it be better to just save 3000 thb a month in an account and use that for medicial bills if and when they come ?
is it normal for people in thai to purchase medical insurance  cover ? is it worth adding out patient care and dentistry service
to the policy or just pay for these things as and when u need them ?

You will get best value by looking for a "disaster" policy that has a high deductible - don't use for minor, routine things like a broken arm, but also a very high upper limit, including if necessary evacuation to Bangkok or even home in the event of e.g. a major head injury.

Agreed...why not just get some stocks, put him in them and let people throw tomatoes at him. If the guy broke the law, arrest him, put him in jail and take him to court and let a court decide the punishment, again reinforces to me how backwards the justice system in Thailand is.

Would they have done this to a Hi-so who had grabbed some boobage ?

Guess they could have handed him some balloons and then proceeded to beat him around the head
If they had some stocks set up on koh san road I would love life.

#5208977 How Long Do You Stay Mad?

Posted robblok on 2012-04-11 12:44:39

Think its a male female thing. Most females can stay angry for ages and remember stupid things of years past. Guys usually forget and forgive. As most guys here interact with females it might look that Thais stay angry longer.

#5184670 Why Apartment Doesn'T Usualy Have A Kitchen ?

Posted PattayaParent on 2012-04-02 10:01:54

Thais generally just pick up food at the street stalls and eat at home.

Those that do a bit of cooking their kitchen will consist of a gas bottle and a double ring hob out on the balcony.

Why concern your self with what  other people consider acceptable risk?
If it seems unsafe to you than your don't have to do it. This is a different place where people are allowed to judge for themselves how much risk they will take, and if they screw up they can't hit the state up for damages or make a big law suit. It is simply sum num na.
This society has not yet learned to be outraged at how their neighbors go about their business, but sure enough they will one day be submerged under regulations and taxed to death like everyone in the west.

Posted OZEMADE on 2012-03-18 02:22:20

You will never stop corruption in Thailand. If you did, the wages would go up to that of western countries, for all employees of all companies and government people. eg The Police would have to be paid about Bt 100,000 a month instead of Bt 9000 a month. Book everyone legally, then there would be no need to take tea money. Put traffic infringement cameras in all traffic lights and on the side of the highways etc.
This would then effect all the industries that deal in Thailand that have their products made here with cheap labour. They would leave for Vietnam or other cheap manufacturing labour countries. So by doing this you would increase the prices of all demestic products, food and the like. I could guarantee, there would be no Falungs living here as they would be in the same boat as they were in their country.
Bottom line, NOT GONNA HAPPEN.Posted Image to Thailand.

#5115271 Scum Tuk-Tuk Driver Ripped Me Off

Posted bendix on 2012-03-07 13:01:02

I'm not sure how this is 'ripping someone off'.

How, for example, did the driver attempt to charge 'triple the price'.  There is no fixed price in tuktuks - it's a process of negotiation.  That he outwitted you because you didnt clarify if it was per passenger or per tuktuk is, frankly, your mistake.

I'm intrigued at the psychological make-up of someone who is so angry about a petty annoyance costing him a pound, than he posts about it in a fury around 16 hours after the event happened.

Get over it.  Learn your lesson.

#3909188 Land Measuring

Posted BB1950 on 2010-09-26 14:03:17

You land is not defined by the center of a road nor power/utility poles. It is defined by the land makers shown on the Chanote. Many times these markers disappear and you have to have to have the land office come out and remark the land. Also as far as road widening. The land office will tell you if you have to provide a setback for some future road widening project.

It's a good idea, to have the land office come out and survey prior to doing any building. As mentioned before the markers disappear or get moved over time. Safe insurance.
