So your visa does not expire until February. You are not making a visa run now you are doing your first border run to cross the bridge and return getting another 90 day permit to stay. You can just cross the bridge a get visa on arrival, get stamped into Laos do a little duty free shopping if you desire and return to Thailand within minutes if you want to.
Info posted previously might allow you to change your travel plans for a new visa since you can do another border run just be your visa expires.

Am wondering if anyone has gone on from this crossing to Pak Lay or Sainyabuli and points north? I'm assuming there's some form of public transpo or transpo for hire?
