Have just received word from Chas that this is to be Tuskers' last weekend. He writes
"We are afraid we have some sad news to report – Tuskers will close permanently on Monday after a final quiz.
After a difficult trading year with no prospect of a buyer and wishing to move on to other things, including of course the birth of our first child, we felt we had no option but to close.
On Saturday night we will be holding ‘The Mother of All Parties’ to go out with a bang and we hope you will all join us for a fitting farewell."
I've never been one to spend much time in bars or pubs but Tuskers always struck me as a good friendly and relaxing place to be with cheerful and helpful staff. They hosted our Chiang Mai Photographic Group meetings for the past three or four years and will be missed by many. Knowing Chas and Rachael, they'll make this a weekend to remember despite the sad occasion!

This is a quick note for all you posters who seem to get some kind of kick out of purposely trying to harm the sale of Tuskers and for trying to run down a number of local businesses whenever the chance arises.
Well done for being so brave - you really are big men, sitting behind your computer, using an anonymous name and making snide comments just out of spite. While everyone’s entitled to their own opinion, some people have clearly used the opportunity to get ‘one up on us’. If we have been so awful to you that you can’t think of anything else to do other than trying to jeopardize the sale of our business then please let me know who you are and what we’ve done. If you’re simply doing it because you just don’t like us, is that a really fair fight?
You know us, you know what we do and you know why we’re doing it. I have no idea who you are, what you do or why. Tell me your names, what you all do and then let me have a vicious conversation about you on an open internet forum – then we might be playing on an even keel. Does running a business (whether you like it or not) give someone else the right to get personal and nasty about them on a public forum? Personally, I don’t think so but then I respect other people, their privacy and their right to make their own decisions.
The details of the sale of Tuskers are no one’s business but our own and those of a potential buyer. The vicious comments by anonymous posters this week has caused unnecessary stress to me and my baby. You have no right to do this.

Thaksin bought nearly every MP in his stable.
He inherited a small and declining party, Palang Tham, a party based on ideals, but instead of developing that, he bought every MP, bar one of NAP, Chart Pattana and other small parties.
His enormous wealth and rampant patronage set Thailand's democracy back years.
He is an utter disgrace to the Thai nation.

The problem with being a Mod is that you have to step in when things start getting ugly. I prefer to just present the facts, and then step out when it inevitably gets ugly, heh
As for gold stars, thanks!

so many posts. Did anyone ever figure out what country or culture the OP Thaigolfer is from?
He cryptically say's
"I come from a countrywhere we speak a completely different language and not too many of us are inThailand"
I would be interested to know his point of view from cultural origin. It might explain a lot about his expectations and social interaction.
any informed guesses? should we start a lottery?
