Paul Scholes Retires.....

2011-05-31 16:11:57

I honestly think this guy deserves his own thread at the moment. One of the on;y players that nearly everyone respects and likes.

Paul Scholes: What they said about a Manchester United great
Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has announced his retirement from football.

The Reds maestro has been one of the most respected players in world football over the past 15 years - here's what some of the fellow world greats have said about him.

"Good enough to play for Brazil. I love to watch Scholes, to see him pass, the boy with the red hair and the red shirt." Socrates

"My toughest opponent? Scholes of Manchester. He is the complete midfielder. Scholes is undoubtedly the greatest midfielder of his generation." Zinedine Zidane

"Paul Scholes would have been one of my first choices for putting together a great team – that goes to show how highly I have always rated him. An all-round midfielder who possesses quality and character in abundance." Marcello Lippi

"I tell anyone who asks me – Scholes is the best English player." Laurent Blanc

"Many great players have worn the shirt of Manchester United. Players I worshipped, then lost with my youth in Munich. Players like Denis Law and George Best who I enjoyed so much as team-mates and now, finally, players I have watched closely in the Alex Ferguson era. And in so many ways Scholes is my favourite." Sir Bobby Charlton

"In the last 15 to 20 years the best central midfielder that I have seen — the most complete — is Scholes. I have spoken with Xabi Alonso about this many times. Scholes is a spectacular player who has everything." Xavi

"The BEST player of his generation #fact loved every minute of playing football with him. #legend." Rio Ferdinand on Twitter on Tuesday morning.

Spa And Hotel For Valentines Night/Day.....

2011-02-01 13:59:11

Afternoon all.....

I'm coming back to LOS on Friday and my family and Mrs are arriving from the UK on Saturday. I'm gonna show them round Bangkok for a day or two before heading for a two week stay in a villa on Samui.....

The thing is, as much as I love my family, I wanna spend Valentines with the Mrs, maybe one or two nights in a nice hotel and spa depending on price and how nice it is..? I'm prepared to go up to say £100 a night.

Its not that I have ever done the Valentines Day thing at all but, it seems like a good excuse for us to get away for a night or Two without causing any upset.

Any sensible suggestions appreciated...... :whistling:

Football Topic Closed......

2010-10-30 13:34:36

Not starting an issue here Gents but, why am I being redirected to The World Forum to discuss a Football topic (Paul the (dead) Octopus). I do not go into The World Forum and, probably never will. Same as those that maybe that use that forum, will not use the The Football Forum.

There was a chance of some football banter, with the people I speak to in The Football Forum, we use it because of that fact. Most of us know each other and generally get along well and are pretty much self Policing, with the odd timely interception from Jock and Mig our able and trusted Manager and Captain....

I really feel there is definite room for consideration of leaving a Football topic open in the Football Forum even if there is another thread on the same topic, running in a different Forum.

Not as if its actually going to happen that often is it....?!

Thoughts please....? :jap:
