Scam Alert - What To Do?
2012-04-10 15:16:28
What to do? It is none of my business I know but ... Maybe somebody will recognise and warn this young German who I believe was recently holidaying in Phuket and is being scammed by his so called Thai girl friend. Nothing new there of course. Anyway I overheard a telephone conversation between this Isaan woman his girl friend and another Thai woman in the airport in Bangkok last week. I too was flying to Phuket. The man is about 38 years old medium height and slim and works as a chef in Munich from what I could gather. They had been up country and were heading to Phuket. He dotes on this Isaan woman and has bank rolled her with a new car and renovated not just her home but her mothers home too even going as far as to buy new furniture and electrical goods. He sends her 30,000 Baht a month. However she is constantly asking him for money and he as she said stupidly obliges. Only last week she asked him while he was here on holiday for another 200,000 Baht which she said he coughed up because she told him if he could not support her and her family she would have no alternative but to finish with him. But what he also does not know is that he is not the only man in her life. She has a Thai boyfriend who lives very well on the German mans monthly cash transfers. She said to her friend that once she has cleaned him out she will dump him... The first step was to limit his quarterly visits saying it was preferable that they should be saving for the wedding but the truth is she abhors his visits? I can not stand back and say nothing hence this post and the hope that somebody will recognise this man and tip him off. She is at this moment planning another scam I could not hear exactly what her plan was but it had something to do with the sin sot? I hope somebody here recognises this man and puts him straight. But then again why should he believe me?

• VIN,IMAC,17" 1.83GHZ/512MB SDRAM/160GB H s/n : W862504KU2N
It seems that it is considered a vintage iMac and Apple no longer carry spare parts? So what I wonder does that make my limited edition 15 year old chrome iMac which still works perfectly all be it very slowly?
Was wondering if somebody could possibly point me in the right direction?
Thank you,

New Property Law?
2012-02-05 15:37:11
Just wondering? Recently a friend (non Thai) purchased a house in Phuket by means of a 30 year renewable lease??? I am aware that a non Thai national purchasing property by what ever means in Thailand can be seen to be circumventing Thai law etc etc? That when challenged the legality of these leases are unlikely to stack up in court but .... When he questioned the sales agent he purchased the property from he was informed that there was an amendment introduced recently in Thailand that allowed the purchaser of a '30 year lease property' who has power of attorney to go to the land office pay a fee I believe of something in the order of 1% and immediately extend the lease to 60 years. Now I have seen no notification of this in any publication other than some months ago the idea being loosely touted in the press.... I may be wrong but I believe the inormation proffered was incorrect?
What Is The (Thai) Legal Definition Of 'Wife'
2011-10-16 11:11:51
I am curious as to what is the actual Thai definition of 'Wife' The Thai police and lawyers are of a view that if you live with a woman for 6 months that they are considered to be your wife thus entitled to 50% of your wealth? Thus in the eyes of the law she is entitled if she so wishes to sell your motorbike or car?
Schools
2011-03-30 23:44:32
I have been considering moving to Krabi from the Phuket cesspool for some time. Now the circumstances are favorable and I was wondering are there decent schools in the area. Previously I have heard negative feed back. I have 2 kids a girl of 12 and a boy of 9. Would be most interested to hear of the options? Thank you in advance....
