About Me

Having lived in Thailand and Cambodia, I now find myself in Viet Nam. Put another way, I've moved from giant city (Bangkok), to smaller city (Phnom Penh) to big town in the Mekong Delta. Seems perverse but I like it here in Chau Doc town, An Giang province. Of course, it helps to have a GF here, the best one so far in eight years of travelling and living in Southeast Asia.

The summer of 2012 will mark two years of "retirement." Let me note to retiree candidates, you'll want something to do. You don't want to end up on the bar stool every day, in a worst case scenario. Not a good lifestyle choice, if you ask me. In fact, my drinking habits have almost faded away, despite now owning the only western style bar-restaurant here. New to the bar business, new to business of any kind. Always been an "employee."

Excuse me, but how are we supposed to know the specific policies of every restaurant we walk into? To me, if it says service charge and the money doesn't go to staff, they are lying to the customers and stealing from their staff.

The sort that dont last in Thailand are the sort where your 50 go into a bar fall in love with a 20 year old ,marry her in haste and repent at leisure ,the same as ones anywhere in the world , but if you marry an ordinary woman from the same sort of background as yourself ,then chances are it will be the same as marrying a woman anywhere in the world and the chances of it lasting are the same ,not rocket science.

Not only the greatest of the fine ladies that I have lived with but for the first time I have a family that shares a mutuaI love and respect. I have never strayed because that would break her heart, and that would hurt me more than the hurt she felt. She is a one woman cuddling machine and can still make my heart skip a beat.

Before focusing my efforts on my local CR Forum I used to dabble in other areas. Last year I started a topic titled Finished House Pictures. It recently struck me that no one from Chiang Rai has posted any pictures of their homes, except me perhaps. At this writing the page views are over 40000 so people are interested but the reply ratio is rather slim at 400+. Many would appreciate it if you would contribute a photo to this other ongoing Topic - Finished House Pictures.
