I'm incredibly impressed that the Thai woman who recorded this video on her phone AND the Burmese lady who was another witness, went to Andrew Drummond with their evidence!

Some of us expats know about his website (and often enjoy it), but Thais and Burmese?? Posted Image

He's obviously far more famous than we thought...
This is exactly what i was thinking how would they even know about him

I would say at least 20 per cent of information to my site comes from Thais.  Despite comments here the site is very well trusted. Were I to be closed down deported etc my first contact would be the Ministry of Foreign Affairs ( who are sensible about such issues) unless its some nutty foreigner who is trying to do it. in which case little would happen. In 25 years in Thailand this case is 'piddle' compared with the some of the issues I have dealt with and got away with because at the top there is a sense of realism.
I am surprised nobody here has commented on the fact that despite Behan'a alleged awful behaviour, putting everybody at risk etc, by carrying balloons onto the station, and becoming angry, which Nisa says would warrant much sterner action in other countries,  that Behan has not been charged with any offence. Some mistake surely.
No. No mistake. Everybody, who needs to know, knows what happened...except apparently  internet warriors here and two Thai websites. The authorities have dealt with this sensibly and despite his feelings, I do not think it would serve much purpose for John Behan to pursue the matter through the courts.
Finally thanks to all the members who clicked on 'like'.

The old threads I've ran never got much traction, so not sure if I'll do it again. The latest update to the 2011 thread is still pretty much on the money though.. not many changes to that..

Your wrong, l and others read them. Posted Image

Yes. They were the kind of threads lots of people read to get the information they need but don't reply to because nothing more need be said. Keep up the good work.

#5002952 Looking To Buy A Condo - Among The Better Ones

Well this is an interesting thread, and thanks to those who have shared valuable info.
I've been working in and around condos in Chiang Mai for over six years, so I thought I'd add a few tidbits into the mix.

Firstly, in terms of investment, your condo purchase will only be a viable concern if you have put the time and energy into getting the right kind of unit, with the right kind of view, in the right location, at the right price, etc etc etc.....just like stocks and shares - you gotta know what you are doing, or you'll lose money. A degree of luck also helps.
I know plenty of people who have done very well in the market here. It can still be done provided sufficient care is taken, although it is getting harder given that space is getting squeezed, and the older buildings are mostly being renovated and resold.
I too will be interested to see how re-sale activity develops at the newer places like Convention, M Front etc.  At the present time, I tend to agree with the poster who said that in 5 - 10 years time, the canal road will be a very desirable location. Frankly, Chiang Mai is growing like crazy, Asia is not in recession, and imho the city will continue to mushroom in size with Asian if not European investment. For this reason, I would suggest that people invest here, if they find a suitable option, all things considered.
In terms of specific condos, I have heard that Floral is next to a Mosque, and so you get the prayer call blasted out five times a day.  I lost a sale there due to this very reason.
Rimping appears to be doing ok, foreigners are eager to rent here. The units I know of go like hot cakes as soon as they become available.
Moreover, the debate about 3 Million Condos being too pricey is really a non-starter. The units I know, renting for 15-25k, are in high demand, and I don't even have to advertise for the unit I manage - it sells itself! Imho, there is a shortage of quality units at 80-130m2. Please pm me or call me on 0873425785 if you want to talk more or maybe do some business.
You may have appeared to be credible until you started to try and make a sale for yourself. It's a no brainer that a commission on a 3 mil baht condo will be higher than that of a 700k baht unit.

Invest your money in the stock market or some other more liquid type of investment. I know people in Chiang Mai that bought condominiums and they have sat vacant for periods of up to 16 months without a single inquiry before a renter comes along. Some have been trying to sell them (at a loss) for years. Terrible investment IMHO. There are too many already. It's a buyers market. People who talk up how great an investment a C.M. condo is, are in 9 out of 10 cases, a seller themselves looking for a bite.

Before I get flamed I should add that if you are buying for your own home or are in a position to invest and not rely on the investment to earn you steady income, then certainly nothing wrong with buying one.

I would tend to absolutely agree with above poster.   I don't see any way that you could make any money investing in a condo unless to get it at a Steal (rock bottome price).

Oh dear !! another true guru of knowing everything about Thailand.Posted Image

Not a guru on Thailand by any stretch but I know about women and, unlike much of the Thaivisa demographic, I didn't rock up here looking for pussy.

Usually happens to guys that leave the door open for it.  A guy once told me that his wife went and borrowed money using his truck as collateral which really pissed him off.  In fact the truck was registered in her name so was hers by law.  He had the strange idea that it was his because he paid for it!
