the landlord is probably going to buy you out of the deal

Being realistic, the 100k offer is the best you can hope for.  Forget about what the law says.  The police guy is no doubt going to make a big profit out of the deal with the big store and he surely is not going to let your demands get in his way or reduce his profit margin.

Suppose you refuse a deal unless you get all your key money and expected profits?  What will you do if 20 guys turn up in the night and physically throw you out of your building?  Go to Court??  You'll spend a whole load of money and time and worry on suing your landlord (and getting your damages from him).

Sorry to sound harsh, but I really don't think you can get in the way of a police guy and his potential money, regardless of how big his smile is...

In Topic: How Tough It Can Be To Go Back Home

I agree with the OP about the price of hotels in the UK.  Last time I went back to visit (bout 5 years ago), I was so shocked at the price of the hotels that I slept in my hire-car!

F**king cold though - middle of winter :)

In Topic: Getting 90 Nib Visa But Still Leave Thailand Every Week

As others have commented, Phuket Labour office has big delays in processing WP applications and that delay can only be shortened by jumping the queue.

I may have to get my single-entry 90 day from KL, then quickly get the WP and return immediately to KL to request a 1 year multi-entry.  That sounds feasible, if rather impracticable.

The alternative option is that I forget about these hassles and simply remain in Myanmar for a longer period each week, and perform my hotel work 'online' from Myanmar, (my hotel work is primarily managing all the online/marketing/customer service activities).

I should also add that I DO have a WP for my professional work in Thailand (hotel manager) :)
