Buying An Unlicensed Business.

2012-05-06 19:14:06

I assume the requirement for a business to be licensed is to enable the Tax Authority to know the business exists and to enable tax to be collected.

Could a buyer of an unlicensed business be held responsible for unpaid taxes, the liability for which was created before the new owner's purchase?

Anyone have experience of this and can offer information and any other insight into potential problems of buying an unlicensed business.

Things To Do, Places To See, Cheap Thai Food, And Old Town Market

2012-03-16 12:12:49

My kids (grown-ups, late thirties) are coming for a visit and I will be taking them on a trip around Phuket.  Does anyone know which day/s of the week there is a “Walking Street”market in Old Phuket Town and where and what time it starts.

Also, I plan a round-island trip for them, but does anyone have any other ideas for interesting “not to be missed” places to see, things to do? Any smaller islands worth a boat trip?

I need to find a really good Thai-price Thai food restaurant where they can order loads of Thai dishes to get a better idea of how wonderful real Thai food is. Location, ambience etc is unimportant- but authentic and low cost would be perfect.

Lastly, a suggestion for a live music pub, with pool table anyone?

Transport is no problem so all suggestions would be much appreciated.

Strange Braking Sensation

2012-01-24 22:04:04

My Suzuki Smash 110cc had a rear wheel innertube replaced by the local guy in my village. Since then, when the bike goes over even a slight bump in the road, as the bike rises back up from the compression of the rear shock absorbers, it feels like the rear wheel is braking.
This slight braking sensation is momentary, but happens every time there is any undulation in the road surface.
Anyone know what could be causing this?

No Claims Bonus Transfer

The Bangkok Ins Co have told my wife that her 6 year NCB of 50% discount (earned on her 2005 Vigo 4x4 with 1st Class cover restricted to 2 named drivers and voluntary 5k excess) cannot be transferred to a new Policy in the event of her buying a replacement vehicle, unless that is also a 2 door pickup and is second hand.

Her NCB discount (50%) will be lost:
1. If she buys a different type of vehicle like a saloon or SUV - new or second hand, or
2. If she buys a brand new red plate 2 door pickup, or
3. If she buys a 4 door pickup new or second hand

I know the way insurance works here is not the same as in the west in many respects, but this is a new one for me!
Is this just a Bangkok Ins quirk, or do all Thai Ins Co’s operate like this?

Graphics Not Smoothe

I have “Snooker 147” by JHC Software which I occasionally play. On my previous laptop it ran perfectly. On my new laptop it plays but is very jerky when the snooker balls move quickly, unlike the very smooth experience of my previous laptop.
My old laptop was an Asus A8Sc with Intel Dual Core, nVidia 8400 Graphics Card, using XP.
New laptop is an Asus X42J with Intel i3, ATI Mobility Radeon Premium Graphics using Win 7.

Is there anything I can tweak to get a smoother experience?
