We are visiting Thailand around October and I am looking at options.
I like Roi-Et and the wife comes from a village an hour from there.
The village is a place that I try to avoid so I am looking for a home base IF I get up there.
I have been to Roi-Et a couple of times and Khon Kean once but Roi-Et does it for me.
I was wundering if there are any new farang food places there, other than 101 Pizza and White Elephant.?
Has the place got any more user friendly for farangs?
What about hotels / guesthouses / apartments? any suggestions?
Has Roi-Et changed in the last few years?

Decent Food In Rayong
2012-05-02 13:58:49
We visit Rayong every year or so for 'family' reasons.
Are there any decent or even any resturants or pubs or eateries that cater to farangs?
I know there is KFC and Macdonalds and a pizza chain but is there anywhere that sells real food?
Also a place to go for a quiet beer during the afternoon while in Rayong would be nice.
I love the place out by PMY resort but sometimes getting there is difficult.
Is there anything close to the city?
Thanks for any info.

Visiting Advice

Hi there, I have a Thai wife from Issan and we live in New Zealand. Very recently we were involved with a group of teachers from the south and we have had many invitations to visit Song Khla and Hat Yai ( hope the spelling is O.K. )
The people we have met from that area are just the nicest people and were split around 50/50 Budist and Muslim but all Thais.
The stories were interesting to say the least.
We are due to visit Thaiand around October and I was playing with the idea of flying from BKK to Phuket and then flying from Phuket to Sonkhla for a couple of days.
We would be more than welcome to stay at our new friends houses but I prefer the privacy of a hotel/ guesthouse/ apartment. I like my own space.
Does anybody have any suggestions?
Also I cannot eat Thai food for breakfast lunch and dinner so are there any farang eateries there.
The food has become important for me and is my main concern when in Thailand. I have travelled to some very isolated places and been sick several times. One time was serious so now I like to what to expect.
One last thing, do you consider the area dangerous?
Just how bad is it? Or not.
Thanks for any information.

Hotel / Guesthouse / Apartments ?

Hi there,
we are visiting Rayong during October this year.
My wife is Thai and she has family there.
We are wellcome to stay with the sister and family but I like my own space.
So I am looking for somewhere to stay for a week or so in Rayong.
I look for a balcony and the usual farang comforts but dont need waiting on or any service.
We have stayed at PMY resort and I loved it there but it was a little expensive and it is quite far from everything.
I am just looking for a reasonably comfortable place that I can maybe walk to get a coffee and some farang food while the wife does what she has to do with the sister. A place to have a beer wouldnt be a bad thing either.
Does anyone know of such a place?
Any sugestions will be welcomed and thanks in advance.
