I was living in Malaysia when Chambers and Barlows were executed.
A friend working at the Thai consulate during that time told me the pair were under surveilance even before they left Australia. Countries they visited were prewarned of their mission and asked to let them pass in the hope of catching Mr Big in Oz. Rightly or wrongly or maybe by coincidence they were caught at the airport. On the day they were strung up another Australian died of an overdose in Penang.
Since then its well known in Oz what happens if caught with drugs in Malaysia. This guy played the game and got caught. He's only got himself to blame when he feels the noose tightening around his neck.
