Yes RIP. Your theory is as valid as the asthma one. I find it offensive that the press here always lists dead people's medications as if that really means anything.

Would you prefer for you Jing they comment on your last meal?.....and before he slipped on the wet tiles he had consumed.....at a very reasonable price, in an air conditioned, but not too crowded restaurant, where the service was efficient, delivered with a smile, if a little on the slow side

#5316371 Royal Jubilee And Uk Settlement Visa Waiting Time

Posted theoldgit on 2012-05-20 13:36:33

I wouldn't have thought that an invite would hold much sway with the granting of a settlement visa, after all you don't to be settled in the UK to be on the guest list for one of these shindigs, but such an invite might help for a visit visa, providing all the other requirements were met.

Visa Plus might be able to give a definitive answer.

#5277914 Why Is There No Passport Control To Leave The Us, As There Is In Other Countr...

Posted VisasPlus on 2012-05-06 15:21:15

Unless things have changed ( and they probably have), the US has/had a two part  immigration card.  The "Departure" card was stapled into your passport. It was the airline's responsibility to retain the card, and pass it to INS.  The card details were then checked against the arrival database.  An arrival without a matching departure was eventually shown as an overstayer in the USA.

Maybe Thailand could do the same !  Might speed things up a bit on departure from the country.

#5273181 2Nd Visitors Visa

David, I appreciate that you are trying to help and that a forum such as this could not exist without people like your good self offering their advice and experiences; but...............

The OP is asking about a UK application. As Australia gained full independence from the UK some time ago their visa requirements and procedures and those of the UK have no bearing on each other. There may be areas of similarity, but there are also areas of complete difference.

So, with respect, when someone asks about UK visa requirements, telling him about those of Australia is not, in all honesty, of much use to him!

These two look like a "return to the planet of the apes".

If they had stole my money and credit card I would insist that they are prosecuted.

#5262825 Jomtien Second Road -- Multiple Bus Route Numbers?

OK, the plot thickens ... maybe.
Also noticed a dedicated newly constructed BUS SHELTER on Jomtien 2nd road between Rompho and Hanuman. Also with the same kind of sign with the multiple bus route numbers. I saw some people sitting on the bench. Have yet to see a BUS that stops there. What's going on?

It's election time!!!

Why would you endanger your son by announcing to the world how rich the family is? More than one brain damaged individual in that family !

#5256337 Thaksin Flying To England For Manchester Derby

Posted markg on 2012-04-28 11:38:11

I don't really understand how a fuguitive, who has been convicted and sentenced in absentia by a legal court in Thailand, can have a chance of getting a visa to the UK.
If Thaksin does manage to get into the UK, and into the football ground, his gurning face will be picked up by TV cameras. You'd think that there would be enough policemen there to slap the cuffs on him.
This stinks. It's not just about whether you like Thaksin or not.
As a matter of principle, can a convicted criminal get a visa to the UK just be stepping into an Embassy and applying for one?
I would rather hope not.

He has no diplomatic status, so is applying for a visa like any commoner. I sincerely hope that the British government apply the rules in the same way they would with any commoner.

Britannia used to rule the waves, these days they waive the rules. If he is allowed entry into the UK then my contempt for the last several UK Governments, and now this one, soars to galactic heights.

I'm afraid I have to agree. I have so many friends with a Thai wife/children who are constantly banging their heads against a brick wall in their honest attempts to get a simple visitor visa, and this fugitive criminal is allowed to walk in unimpeded...!!!??

#5255815 Pattaya Begins Enforcement Of Thailand’S Anti-Smoking Laws

Posted xen on 2012-04-28 07:55:04

Just wish there could be signs on restaurants stating wether the "no smoking" regulations is enforced. I am sick of ordering food only to have it rendered almost unedible because some pri-k at the next table thinks he has more rights than us and lights up and lets his smoke drift over us and our food . Go outside FFS and have your smoke there if necessary, There are a few restaurants in Pattaya. in particular . who serve good food but i will not return because of their smoking policy , I am not saying people should not have the right to increase their chances of dying from smoking related disease but suggest that a sign is erected at the enterence to the establishment stating that the management considers smokers have preference over non-smokers or food consumers so i know not to waste my money there.

Great to see laws like this introduced.

Australia is currently considering similar.....but harsher than these pattaya ones.

Great to see people forced to stop infecting others with their filth.

So Thailand is now officially the only country in the world to give any weight to the trumped up, politically motivated charges against the deposed premier.
What planet do you live on? If these charges against Thaksin are trumped up then I'm afraid I am the world's only pregnant carrot.
