Although this is slightly off topic, I thought members might be interested in this :

An article describing how a British aircraft, which went missing in 1942 has now been found. The local British Embassy are hoping to visit the site, and hopefully find out what happened to the missing pilot, Flt Sgt Dennis Copping. They are also trying to find out if Flt Sgt Copping has any living relatives, in case they do find his remains.
It is good to know, that those who fought and died on our behalf, are treated with the respect that they, and the families they left behind, deserve.

Interesting that you said "fought and died" as if one needed to die to get any respect.
I did my time in Vietnam and for the past three plus years trying to register for V.A. benefits without success not to mention all the American/Vietnam Veteran bashing throughout this forum.
I've received more respect from Thai's than I ever did from American's or anyone else and have met many Thai's who worked with and supported American's during the conflict.
I didn't ask to go there. I was eighteen years old. To me it was an opportunity to 'see the world', not kill people. Fortunately for me I was with headquarters, Marine Air Wing, Danang where there was very little action although being a Marine we still had to go outside the compound sometimes on sweeps, etc..
But I guess the bottom line is, I'm glad to be alive without the respect.

dutcherscove,
You didn't say what hospital couldn't answer you one way or the other.
I've been to Khon Kaen University - Srinakarin hospital - many times and was told "NO" free or 30 Baht treatment. I also have a yellow book, retirement visa/extension, etc.
I had better and cheaper treatment there long before the 30 Baht scheme.
It seems now the government hospitals are less effective since the 30 Baht scheme and they try and make it up by charging what they can to farang (my opinion as well as nurses I spoke with at the hospital).  they are overworked and understaffed and most doctors have their own clinics.
One thing should be remembered. There is no malpractice in Thailand and the Doctors or whoever is cutting into you, are not responsible for any negative outcome resulting from any treatment or operations. Another thing, students can 'legally' operate or treat you "under supervision" (loosely termed) with no responsibility at all.

from the extensive research I've done, it appears liquid nitrogen 'cryotherapy' seems to be the best choice but can't seem to find any doctor who does it. Sheryl recommended a doctor at St.Louis hospital in Bangkok but they replied 'that doctor doesn't do it' and recommended another doctor. I then sent a photo of my keloids to ask if they can be treated with liquid nitrogen and no reply. So I'm still looking for someone around Khon Kaen who can treat it with liquid nitrogen. It appears no one wants to do it because there is little profit made. The doctors I have seen want to surgically cut them out although they admit, they will grow back...at a cost of 50,000 Baht+
Good luck in finding an honest Doctor and would very much like to know if you do find one....There's lots on the internet, here's some good info:  http://keloid212.com/cryotherapy.php

So sorry for the OP's inconvenience. Not a mention of his wife's father...you appear to be a very selfish person, "my t.v, dvd, money, etc." Take your own advise and stay living where you are since Thai culture doesn't suit you at all.
The father of my wife died last year and the funeral lasted seven days. On the last day there was a parade to the Wat where he was cremated.
At the funeral there was alcohol and tons of people, family & friends, all helping with cooking, etc. There were loud speakers & live music (Mualam) with no one getting out of hand at any time...I knew my father-in-law for more than twenty years and he rarely spoke. He worked hard everyday in and around the rice fields and he will be missed by many..

What are you on?  I'm a very selfish person?    Maybe I'm just not a bufallo!!!   Don't have a clue what your on about ' my TV, DVD, money etc '  please explain yourself since you know so much about isaan culture, I'm waiting.

Explain myself to someone who "doesn't have a clue" ?  This forum is getting worse by the day with "clueless", selfish and insensitive people. oh, forgot to include 'crybabies' with hair triggers. It appears you're incapable of any basic understandings of Thai culture so 'keep waiting' and complaining. You come on to a world wide forum and cry about a couple days of inconvenience and a few quid to "inform others"  :passifier:
