I find the "Thailand Live" news threads very useful to see the news without the editorial and opinion. That they link to news articles that are placed in the middle of threads is another great feature as they could be overlooked. However, on a busy day they sink out of sight, and it can be hard to work out which threads have new news content or just a lot opinion.
Would it be possible for the Thailand Live threads to be pinned for a couple of days before they sink into the general news forum? This would allow the grain to stay at the top and the chaff to find its own level. I appreciate the pinning and unpinning may be a pain to the mods, then there is the decision of how many days would be relevant, my guess would be two to four days, as too many will clog up the header section.

Flood News
2011-11-11 16:17:22
I would like to congratulate the mods in the news forum for their tireless work on keeping us up to date on the flood situation. The news starts early and continues till late in the night. It helped me keep my recent trip a relaxed event. I realise this might be the wrong forum as it is the winge. bitch, and moan department, but bouquets are due as well as brickbats.

Songkran In Issan
2011-03-24 15:12:30
I have committed to visit Issan for songkran, does anyone know the "official" dates for for water madness in ;
Udon Thani
Kalian
Ubon Ratchatani
Korat.
I am not trying to avoid them quite the opposite, I am travelling with my 11 year old son and want to cover as many as possible, will arm him with a super soaker and dispatch to the streets and "supervise" from a safe distance.
Current plan is to arive in Udon Thani on 10 April and go to Kalasin that day or the next, but can be flexible if needed to increase the water play.
Would appreciate any accommodation recommendations in those towns too.
