Hi all,
My wife and I need to apply for an ILR visa (UK) - her FLR expires on 6th April so we have a 28 day window to apply before then,
We had been planning to go to Thailand in July and, despite objecting to paying the extra, decided not to risk the 6 month waiting time by applying by post and book a same day appointment in Croydon.
When we logged in, it says there are no appointments available for the period I entered. There were a few available in February but these are obviously too early.
My question is:
Are any appointments likely to become available? Or have we missed the chance?
And if they are, can anyone suggest the best time to log in to get one?
Thanks in advance!

Ni Number Uk
2010-08-17 05:32:26
Hi all,
My wife is on FLR(M) and she has been trying to get an NI number so she can start applying for jobs. We went to the job centre where they didn't seem to have a clue. We then called the number give on the government website. On the website and as advised on Thaivisa we were under the impression that we had to call this number and they would arrange an appointment at job centre to prove ID etc and then issue one.
Anyway, she has called and they keep telling her that she has to get a job first and then she will get one.
Has anyone had any actual experience with this. I'm not sure if things have changed or if they're getting it wrong (wouldn't be the first time)?
Any advice would be appreciated.

Visa To Italy
2010-07-16 05:20:58
Hi Guys,
I wonder if anyone can help?
My missus and I hope to go to Italy to visit my dad who now lives there. We plan to go in mid August but we're unsure about the visa process. Please note, we live in the UK.
As I understand it, the fee is waived for the wife of an EEA national (she's currently on FLR(M) and has a residence permit).
I noticed on the following website http://www.conslondr...reca_in_italia/ that:
"According to EU Directive 2004/38/CE, family members of EU nationals who do not have the nationality of a Member State, but have the new residence permits issued by the British Home Office bearing the specific following indication:
"RESIDENCE DOCUMENTATION
Type of Document: Residence Card of a Family Member of an EEA National"
will not need a Schengen visa for a SHORT STAY (up to 90 days in 6 months) in Italy if accompanied by the EEA National OR if traveling to join them.
Bringing a copy of marriage certificate or proof of relationship is advisable."
But my wife's doesn't say this; it just says "spouse/partner". Does anyone agree/know that this means we have to apply?
And, according to the website it seems (but is not clear) that she has to go in person to the Consulate in London? Is this the case? And does anyone know whether she will have to go back to collect it? NB the link to the VFS site says it can be sent but as she's my wife it says she can go to the consulate. It doesn't say whether they have a delivery service.
We're only going for a few days due to my work commitment so if there's loads of travelling into London we're just not sure it's worth it.
Appreciate any advice/knowledge!
Cheers.
