Brushcutter Extension

2011-06-30 06:01:43

Is it possible to buy a longer pole for my brush cutter? or an extension/attachment even. Does it even exist?
The reason i am asking is it would make my life a lot easier when cutting the slopes around my fish ponds. My old leg muscles are taking a pounding trying to negotiate along these slopes whilst cutting. Already having turned the grasp handles to 45 degrees helps a lot, but a 2-3 ft longer pole would make it a lot easier.

New Motherboard Problem?(I Think

2011-01-11 09:30:40

Hi all. Got back to LOS 7 weeks ago and wife tells me she had to put the desktop PC into shop for repair. Seems they've fitted a new motherboard, AsusM2N68-AM plus. Now after 20-30 mins the pc shuts down on its own. The power button is still illuminated but the comp has shut down or has gone into sleep mode or something.
When I restart IE asks me if I want to restart to the last browsing pages as my comp. shut down unexpectedly.
Been back to the shop 3 times ( most well known shop in Chiang Rai) and 3 times they have told me they have fixed the problem. But no, problem still exists.
First time the Young kid in the shop told me there was a problem with the HDD.Which I thought wasn't correct. 2nd time he told me he opened the comp. all day and it never shut down, but I don't think he worked the comp. So when I took it back I left it with a couple of programmes running an a video running. Went back an hour later and yes, he said it shut down. Wife and kid picked it up last time. never got an expalanation as to the problem. But same scenario. Shuts down after 20-30 mins. This is variable not exact so no scheduled shut downs I think.
I'm usually using the comp. when it shuts down so not going to sleep I think also.
Taking this info from DXDIAG:Running XP pro,AMD Athlon 64x2 Dual processor, 4600+,MMX, 3Dnow (2 CPU's). Display Nvidia Gforce 8400 GS
THis problem has only manifested itself since the fitting of the new motherboard, which I don't know was a necassary refit or not as I wasn't here at the time.
The PC is only just over 2 years old and to be honest doesn' get a lot of use as I mainly use my laptop and the kids are at school in BKK so only use it when they come home on holidays.
My wife only uses the PC to talk to me on Skype when I'm away working.
Any suggestions as to the problem(s) would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Rubber Farms

2010-12-03 08:03:10

Someone recently PM'd me regarding wanting to buy a rubber farm and indicated that they would like to buy a farm that was almost ready to start tapping. I just thought that others may like to read and consider my answer to that person. So here goes.

Hi ???. My trees are still 1 year away from tapping. But during the last 6 years From buying, preparing the land. Buying the young rubber trees and planting them,Putting the right types of fertiliser at the right time of year is another very important aspect of rubber farming. I have been fortunate enough to be able to fertilise properly. Something that many Thais cannot afford to do. Hence my trees are larger and healthier than similar aged trees around
I have gained a vast amount of experince in rubber farming over these years. Something that you will miss out on if you just want to buy a farm that is ready to start tapping.

I have not formed a business. Everthing I have is in my wifes name. We have been together for more than 12 years so trust is not a problem for us. No other family members are invoved so unlike yourself her brothers, brothers in law etc don't have any say or any input whatsoever in what goes on, in and especially OUT of the farm. Nor will they ever.
How long have you been involved with your Thai family? Do you trust them completely as I do my wife?
Even tho my farm is 1 year away from tapping I would not sell my farm(20 rai) as the guaranteed income for the next 25-30 years is more important to me.
In answer to 1 other of your questions, my farm is in Chiang Rai.
How big a farm are you expecting to buy? How much would you be willing to pay? Who has the experience in your family to look at a potential farm that you may want to buy and say that the trees have been raised properly. I think that you cannot buy the knowledge that I have gained over the last 6 years and this is something that may come back to haunt you in the future.
Another thing that you have to be wary of is why would someone want to sell a rubber farm that is almost ready to start tapping. The price of rubber at the moment is very high.
If someone told you their trees are 6 years old how would you know. I know mine are 6 years old because I helped put them in the ground.
To sum up ???. I personally would be very wary of someone who is selling a rubber farm for whatever reason, however I wish you the very best of luck in you search for such a farm.
Please don't hesitate to contact me again if you have anymore questions and I will try to answer them to the best of my knowledge

Regards,
           Chang35baht.
