On the day of the wedding, the new mother in law called in some favours from her Hollywood cronies and the venue was like a film set ( the mother in law owns a major film production company). I didn't get to see my wife for 6 weeks before the wedding as she was in a Nepalese Temple being taught the art of satisfaction ( Kama Sutra style ). At the age of 21, she was still naive in the ways of men and her mother insisted that she learn how to be obedient to me and to serve my every need in the bedroom. I love my Mother In Law, very much.
Realizing that I am the bearer of the precious seed of childhood, my new family insist that I do not work, in case I damage my future fertilization prospects. So I spend all my days lazing by the pool at the family palace. To alleviate the boredom, I have three ( ahem ) hand maidens to attend to my every need. If I ever want to leave the residence, one of the hand maidens calls Uncle Wit, the regional police commander, who arranges police outriders to accompany my limousine. It can be quite embarrassing when I only want to pop out for a packet of Cheerios.
When It is report to the wife that I have left the premises, the hand maidens get chastised for not attending to my every need, and often one get's fired. This results in a totally new hand maiden being delivered to me the next day. It really is a hard life.
I happen to know that every other Thaivisa member has a wife of the same calibre so I won't waste your time telling you where I met mine.

The Who posters, signed by Roger Daltrey, was one of the auction items at Jesters Care4Kids party Night which went for Baht 35,000 for the two of them. Jimmy also offered to sign the poster if the bidder so wished., which he did. Jimmy also signed a Jesters T-shirt which went for Baht15,000 and of course his DVD "It Might get Loud" with The Edge and Jack White which went for Baht 15,000. This was only part of 54 items auctioned on the night and I am certain that with Jimmy Page being there and personally signing autographs made the night better for the Care4Kids - remember this all was for Charity.

I'm going to really stick my neck out here. All these stories about problems between westerners and their spouses. " My wife blew our savings on playing cards. " " My wife did this. " " My wife did that. " etc.
I have never heard a tale over the years here where, having known the people involved, I've been the slightest bit surprised. Westerners tend to marry or be with somebody they are completely incompatible with regarding just about everything and try to convince themselves that the 3 ringed circus that constitutes their relationship is somehow normal.
Totally agree - Damaged Goods on both sides of the equation.

Yes, she is still around and posts now and then. I agree - Irene has always been a wealth of information. Fortunately the a-hole that drove her away for a while rarely posts on here anymore.

I don't remember ever being quite so at odds with one of your posts? Are you having a bad day? You are usually full of the milk of human kindness.
Chap is having a crap time of it and while he COULD have just sold his sob story, he manned up and put it in context. Kudos for that at least. To gclet involved in arguments about raising kids is very near the knuckle when you don't know all the parties involved. I'm just sticking to the matter in hand which is ebay has frozen his money so how can he do ANYTHING however good or bad he is??
Hindsight is 20/20 and while many of us would not have put all our resources at risk like that, fact remains, we would all be better of coming up with solutions to this problem than tearing the chap down. And before you ask, as far as I know,I don't know the bloke from Adam. But Its a heck of spot he's in. Would be easy to poke fun at it,and indeed my busking post did just that but as he raised this first on another forum and I have offered him some advice and am looking into helping him out myself or by proxy, I didn't feel too bad about a bit of humour.
Can't kick a man when he's REALLY down.

A weak point with the Mac is that a lot of games and business software need to run on Windows. A good point with a Mac however is that you can run Windows (XP or 7) on the Mac using a emulation program like Parallels . This means you can be using either OS at the same time and drag files from one to the other. I use this regularly and it is good except that you need as much RAM as you can fit into the machine.
Mac also have a built in Boot Camp which is a partition you create on your hard drive and you install your windows OS and it becomes a full Windows PC. The weak point is you need to reboot from one OS to the other.
My Macs run well into old age and generally the hardware quality is better , certainly longer lasting but used laptops are like used cars, everyone is different and buyer beware. I have a number of dead PC based laptops with fatal hardware problems that are no longer worth fixing, problems I have never had with the MAC such as CPU's, motherboards and the like whereas I have retired two old Mac laptops that still work fine but are not grunty enough for current software.
Mac software is good and you can pretty much all the normal things using the standard Mac software that comes with the machines.
If you are a Windows person there is a small learning curve, If you are just web surfing and emails and so on. I think the Mac is a good choice because the hardware is nicer , generally better laid out and good quality and the software is good and you still dont have to run any anti virus.

Pattaya is the cesspit of Thailand (followed closely by Phuket) and both are tourist destination filled with low-lifes. It is not a place for any family. It is not a place to visit for weekends. It is certainly not a place for nightime solace and watching the stars. The the majority of crime there seems to be a mixed challenge between the Thai's and the dodgy Farangs, and the Police win against both in the corruption stakes.
It is of no surprise to read about suicides, people being arrested with drugs, child prostitution, Russian mafia and so on. Ever since the days of Vietnam US (and others) gaining passes for R & R (raging n' rooting) Pattaya has enjoyed that reputation which like a festering sore, continues to pollute all who live there.
It attracts Thai's who make money from the growing debacle of human misery, the rip off merchants and the scammers. Selling real estate with no titles, money up front for condo purchases and no contract ability to complete. Other Farang come, build some condo's or do house renovations, quality is poor, prices double that of Thai rates and so on. Bars scamming Farang (and others) and so on. Other Farangs come to buy bars with inflated figures, do their ass*s, then sell on and don't mind ripping off the next sucker and on it goes. It is really the armpit of Thailand. I inform all my clients coming in and people asking for holidays - to avoid both the P's. and will continue to do so.

Thais are complainers, and gossipers to the n-th degree.
That the 'sister' and the person in your post fight all the time, is plain and simple none of your business (unless you finance the family thru some salary or other assistance). Until it becomes a financial burden to you, I'd totally ignore it. The thais will sort it out themselves (or not depending on their motivation or lack thereof
You would do well to steer clear of 'thai family squabbles' whether they involve a no good worthless foreigner, or thai of similar ilk for that matter.
It's not your business, and currently Thai Immigrations offers NO reward to turn in over-stayers (FWIW: I checked already, because if they did offer even a paltry sum, I'd be a billionaire by now!
And no it doesn't make a bit of difference whether he's in Nakhon Nowhere Issan
As an aside; I know all tooo many thai guys who sit around all day getting piss drunk and chain smoking too, while contributing nothing to the family. .

One reason I know it's a lie is that you don't need a passport to receive money from Western Union. Western Union is often used to send money to people in poor Third World countries where the recipient often doesn't have a form of picture ID. Therefore, W-U allows the sender to provide a PIN code to W-U that the recipient must provide to W-U at the receiving end to get the money. The sender provides the PIN to the receiver either by telephone, SMS, or email...and with the PIN, picking up the money without an ID is possible. But nice try buddy!
And of course, anyone without excess funds in a bank to get home in an emergency has no business traveling outside their own hometown city limits.
FarnangBuddha, I quite understand if you do not believe this poster for whatever reason, but don't you think you should give him the benefit of the doubt? He is not asking you or anyone in this forum for a donation, but just asking for some assistance as to how to get about in his situation. As for calling him a lier, you are too quick to shoot from your hip. I have checked with WU and they need to see some form of indentification, not just the pin number.
It is not for you to be sarcastic regarding people traveling without excess fund in one's bank. There are many budget travellers and you don't need to be rich or need a healthy bank account to travel???
Alll this person need is some quick advice and he would be better off without people like you to pour cold water. Don't you feel shameful of your attitude?

I hope the OP gets things sorted out. Not a nice position to be in.
