I know there was a recent thread about physical therapists after knee surgery and all of those recommended therapists and hospitals were noted.
However, physical therapists, just like doctors, often specialize in different areas. My wife has seen several physical therapists in the US but will be in CM soon and would like to continue therapy. She is recovering from surgery to repair a torn labrum and correct a femoroacetabular impingement.
So if any of you have had experience with physical therapists in CM after hip surgery, we like to hear your experiences.
Thanks.

Myanmar Visa?
2012-02-16 18:18:58
Can someone give me the current status.
I haven't been to Myanmar, other than a one hour visa run in two years.
I'm an American citizen living in Chiang Mai and heard I must travel to Bangkok to get the visa in person. Is it possible to fill out the form and give your passport to a reputable travel agency and have them do it for a small fee?
TIA

Every time WETV dropped an English language station (CNN, BBC, Bloomberg, Universal) there were plenty of complaints here. They've just revised their programing again, as they seem to do every month. They've added BBC and another English language movie channel. We also get to keep all the other English language channels like the Asia Food Channel, Aljazeera, and Fox.
How come there are only complaints when channels are dropped and no props when they're added?

Adopt My Dog

My wife and I have been fostering 4 dogs for several months but we're leaving CM for a while (the dogs are sad but I can hear the cheering from everyone else). The dogs are all going back to the shelter if we can't find them new homes. Three of them will get along fine there or just are not ready for adoption yet. But we dread sending the fourth one back there.
Shaggy is an absolutely wonderful dog. He's perfectly behaved, easy to train, and obeys basic commands. He's very gentle and may be the easiest dog to deal with that we've ever had. We really can't think of any bad habits.
Shaggy's problem is that he doesn't like dominant, aggressive male dogs and at the shelter there are plenty of those. We know he'll wind up sitting in a corner, afraid to come to the gate to greet visitors there.
Shaggy would be great in a house as the only dog, or as a companion to a female dog, or a non-aggressive male dog. He'd prefer human companions to other dogs, but he really doesn't want to play games. He won't fetch and if you throw a frisbee, he'll never figure out why. If you give him a few minutes of petting and scratching in the morning and evening, he'd be a happy dog. He'd love to go out for a two short walks every day but if you have a secure garden he'll be happy there.
This is what he looked like when we got him after a bad hair cut:
Before
This is what he can look like if he's never groomed (now you know how he got his name):
Long Before
With 20-30 minutes of grooming once a month, he's a very handsome dog. If you're interested in seeing him you can contact me or Care For Dogs at the links above.

Respect And Disrespect

I was out on my bikes (bicycle yesterday, motosai today) all morning into early afternoon north and south of the city. I don't mind the kids with water guns or small buckets. In fact I'll often put my arms out asking to get wet. But I'd prefer to avoid the older kids with big buckets. I wave them off. I probably motioned "no" to 30 people (mostly kids) and my request was unanimously accepted.
Last night (Monday) at about 7:30pm, I saw a well-dressed, middle-aged woman on a motosai who came upon a gang of farang -- the only other word besides "gang" that might suit them is "mob". She screamed "No! Please!" when she saw them but at least two of them slammed her with bucketfuls of water.
I told this story to a friend of mine and she said the same thing happened to her at 8:000pm. She actually got off her bike to say something to them but she said they threatened her. She was afraid that if she wasn't a woman they would have hit her.
There's a big difference between having fun and being rude, obnoxious, selfish and dangerous.
