In Topic: Is There A "True Value Hardware" Store In Bkk?

Thanks to all! Spoonman came up with a Thai - not US - website with all the info for all branches in Thailand. The Rama 4 location is closest to me.

Thanks again,

I sent my previous reply before reading Tywais' informative post. Doesn't look like any coverup this time. Still nothing on USGS.

So - Who to believe?

Far larger earthquakes in the same general area off the coast of Banda Ache have produced far less effects in Phuket than these latest "smaller" events. Yet I know that tremblings can skip areas closer to the epicenter, and be felt greater in areas more distant. Perhaps that is the case.

When I was living in Pattaya (so this had to be 5+ years ago), I felt a 'bump'. Having lived in California, I suspected an earthquake. I checked USGS and it took about 30 minutes to show up. They registered its location in the Gulf of Thailand - somewhere off Hua Hin - if memory serves. No ensuing updates changed the location - either from the USGS or Thai govt. I followed that for a couple weeks.

However, at the time, the Thai govt. said it was across the border in Burma. My thought at the time was that covering up its location would be better for tourism.

I'll be interested in how the info from this latest event pans out. I'll be following this one too.

Thanks!

In Topic: Are 37" Hdtv'S Available In Los?

2012-04-10 17:54:13

Hi,

I visited sinsiamelectronics website and saw 37" Samsung models.

However, I called them, and they said that they only have 32 & 40" models, and the other ones on their site were old models.

Inquiring about OLED TVs, they said they weren't available yet, and would only be available in big and huge sizes.

So, I guess it's back to square one. I guess my only option is the 32" - a little small for my needs. The 40" is way too big ( I want something relatively portable) and not something I'm considering buying.

Thanks anyhow!

Thanks all, and especially pipo1000 for your responses.

A 32" is just too small, as I sit quite a distance from my computer (when possible). On the other hand 40"+ seem like overkill. That's why I wanted something in between.

If the prices of the larger ones are better than the ones in the 37" range, I'll consider buying the larger. But not 2nd hand. Haven't even figured out what make or model - LCD or LED or Plasma would be best for a computer monitor. I need to research that.

I just knew I had to come to Thaivisa for more expert advice when I was misinformed by sales people as to availability regarding TV sizes. This kind of thing happened so many times in my years here. I just don't believe people when they say they have or don't have something. They don't know their own stores (3 times on different matters so far this week). It ain't like going to HomePro where the employees often have a vested interested (stock holdings) in their company. But I would be a fool to expect that as this is Thailand, and that's OK - just requires occasional (daily?) readjustment.

Thanks again. That should do it! It's on me now.
