Yesterday a sow delivered five healthy boars. Yes only five. She is a great mother and a very docile pig. At fourth parity and diminsishing litter size, decision time looms. If you do the math, she had produced 14 piglets in the last year and assuming all the new ones reach weaning which they should do, the average cost of her piglets is around 1,100 baht. Industry standard prices for piglets is 1,700 baht so there is still a profit.
So what to do?
I am in a transition phase of changing the herd over. If she was to throw another litter of five, then her cost per piglet annually would be closer to 1,500 baht.

What would you do?
Give it more more chance . Like you say , you still make a healthy profit ( for me 500 baht or more per piglet is a good profit margin ) , and even if she has same next time you will still have a profit however it is getting close to 0  . 4 times she has piglets , which is quite fast for a drop back . Also , it has been a very hot season , maybe this is also worth considering .

All schools should be like Triam Udom   www.triamudom.ac.th http://en.wikipedia....om_Suksa_School
Entrance is by exams only, regardless if you live next to the school or in Betong (the further-est place from Bangkok).
No more auto pass or auto progression to the next grade.

20 classes per year, 50 student in each class, making it 10,000 intake each year.
Traim Udom produces the highest quality of Thai brains i Thailand.
No other school even come close.
The distance second is Satit, incidentally, is located just next door.

And 20x50 is..............:)  Did you go to this school?

Nice to have a government of action and not only words.
300 baht...tablets...high-speed rail...beats hot air balloons, submarines & wars with our neighbours!

If they don't manage (wrong word) get their act together with the flood situation, you could have a high-speed submarine passing through Singburi/Lopburi during the rainy season on it's way north/south!

Thai girls on hunger strike?

Not for long

.

But reading......

Quote

More than 50 ninth graders from Bodindecha School and their parents have gathered in front of the Government House to stage a hunger strike for the third consecutive day today

If they are gathering every day, does that mean they are un-gathering in the evening.

I'm sure they can sit there defiantly not eating for a day, and then grab some noodles on the way home.

#5304030 Thailand Ranks 41 In University Ranking

Posted geriatrickid on 2012-05-16 08:18:48

Too Funny.
They are really trying to spin this.  Posted Image   Only 48  countries ratings were ranked in the publication and Thailand  came in at 41 just above Iran.
The bottom 20 have dismal scores. The top 10 are comparable overall. Thailand's score was 46.6 out of 100.  Ignoring the advanced nation of Singapore, Thailand didn't do so bad when compared to its  regional peer group of India, Indonesia  and China. After all, these countries have 3/7 of the world's population. However, when compared to he  developed world, Thailand is left behind.

#5243215 The Price Of A Rai

Posted somo on 2012-04-23 15:13:24

This thread has become a discussion about property speculation. Looking at the OP is was about arable land 50k from the nearest town. This is also a farming forum. Pricing arable land for farming is just about the returns possible by growing stuff on it not whether you might get planning permission in 20 years for a different use. On that basis it would be interesting to know if anyone can present a case for buying arable land for more than 40k/rai and what they would grow.
