We are planning a trip to the UK and would like to visit Europe and would prefer not to have to go to Bangkok to get a visa for my Thai wife. (she already has a UK visitors 5 year visa)
Can we get a Schengen visa in Chiang Mai?

Cold Spell Disater Zone Declared
2012-01-05 18:53:50
I notice in the news Chiang Mai has been declared a cold spell disaster zone today .
Am I missing something? Its 29 degrees C as I sit here now, and not much cooler in the hills.

Why Has The Website Gone All Off

Just logged on with my Thai computer, Chiang Mai forum looks terrible.
Thought it was my local software, but just tried my UK real version and its still poor. I noticed the site was down last night, is there a problem?

Curry Nights

I fancied a curry this evening, and rather than cook my own I had a look at what Rimping had to offer. They have a new frozen curry section called Curry Nights (British Indian Restaurant Curry), not sure how long it has been there.
I tried the chicken Rogan Josh and it was very good and a good sized portion for 159Baht. I also had the onion bahjee, which was very tasty, though I think I should have put it in the oven rather than microwave it.
For rice I just used the standard Thai rice that is allways available at home.
Definately worth trying if you like your British style curries.

ps. I have no financial ties to either Rimping or Curry Nights!

Beware Airport Plaza Giveaways

I was out with my two children on Sunday walking through Airport Plaza. We entered through the outside entrance, looked at the fish tank, liked the look of the Mercs on display, and moved on towards TOPS. I did not really understand what the next display was about, though the 'demo' boys and girls seemed attired in the same way as the Merc girls. I accepted a handout, about the same size as a Lipton tea bag square in an individual wrapper, but they would not give my 4 year old daughter one. She was upset, but I explained that children were not allowed tea, and just slipped mine in my pocket. I remember thinking, bad advertising job, not a word in English.
I never gave it another thought until changing my shorts the next day for the laundry. I found it and thought , 'what sort of tea is it?' I oppened the package to find a plastic wrapper containing a condom!
What sort of people hand out condoms to unsuspecting parents in a plaza? My wife was away at the time, but had she found this I may not been alive now!
This sort of thing should be stopped as it could lead to fatalities!!!
