Shower Water Heater

Are shower water heaters being grounded to earth in Thailand?

You can use a 240V GFCI which senses voltage loss on a non-grouded leg ( and assumes voltage is going where it should NOT be going ). This will trip the circuit at 5 milliamps and  in 25-40 milliseconds
A.K.A. Residual-Current Circuit Breaker (RCCB) or appliance leakage current interrupter (ALCI).

Or run a ground wire to physical earth so the breaker, fuse, OCPD ( overcurrent protective device ) can referrence ground and trip. But nowhere near as fast, and at high current levels.

Bumrungrad Report - Urologist, Gynocologist, Etc

2012-03-20 17:50:57

My Thai wife and I came from the US to get medical done at Bumrungrad:

Me, USA-
Urologist, Dr Chodchoy. Excellent. Knew quickly what had stumped my US Dr's and urologist. I'll be fine
GP, Dr Phillipe, Very good. Knew quickly what was wrong with my scalp. US Dr's were stumped, Dermatologist said it was excema. Nizoral shampoo resolved it.
My 10 months aching elbow more difficult - but I didn't go to ultrasound treatments as we visited family all over LOS. Went to 3 Dr's and a physical therapist there - all fine- but not resolved.

Bumrungrad A- (Would be A+ but the Rx got pissy when I wanted to get my prescriptions outside the hospital. Medicine very expensive at the hospital)

Wife, Thai-
Gyno, Dr Suvit. Dr found an issue, polyp, that was not known. Also known fibroid. Dr was 2 1/2 hours late due to surgery. Seemed proficient from exit discussion after exam. I stayed out of her business (a mistake).
Recommended polyp removal. Quoted 40,000B and 6 hours stay.
Different counters said different things. Islamic petite nurse, can't recall name, misinformed my wife - wife says.
BUT! Cashier said it would be 90,000B and overnight stay.

(not sure what was said to my wife, it was in Thai. But HUGE confusion ensued)
  • Dr 2 1/2 hours late to exam
  • Cost more than doubled.
  • Lost records upon admission.
  • Nobody told her the correct counter to report(?).
  • Shuffled from one counter to another until it was time for proceedure.
We cancelled. Will get the proceedure done in the US.
Bumrungrad C+ to D-

Anybody go to the Thailand AA roundup? I heard it was very uplifting this year... People flew in from all over.

Seeking Gyno And Urologist Recommendations

2011-12-05 07:59:05

My wife (Thai) has an early fibroid condition and she no longer trusts US doctors. She had some unfortunate experiences here. So we're coming back to Thailand to check it out with a good Gynocologist, and treat it if needed.

She has chronic lower left back pain as well. One week out of the month she has 'womb pain' on that side. She has had a tubal ligation here (one Dr wanted to do a complete hysterectomy for some reason). She had an ultrasound done in the US which detected it, but the medical clinic lost the record and we may need another there.

I'm going to a Urologist while there and considering these;
Dr Thanoo Choovichian at Samitivej
Dr Viroj Chodchoy at Bumrungrad

Any recommendations and advice is welcome please!
We have insurance here but the copay is higher than the treatment cost in Thailand, and the quality of care is a coin toss here.

Which Visas? Us Dad 50+, Us Child, Thai Wife

2011-04-16 00:58:39

(My computer OS crashed and I lost the info I've gathered here over the years in preparation. Now I have back-up! I did search but my situation is a bit unique)

  • Relocating July/August 2011
  • I'm 50+ years
  • US child
  • Thai wife in US on 10 year permanent residence status
  • If my house sells we have enough in the bank on deposit - 800,000B correct?
  • If it doesn't sell we have enough anyway and some income - 25,000B per month correct?

I'd like to apply in Thailand, not at an embassy in another state here in US, for non-O. How does my child's visa work? Will the child's visa need more trips out of country? Please advise where and how. Also, is there a better way and is my plan wrong?
