Tmb Correspondent Bank In Usa
2012-02-28 15:05:19
I will soon be due a modest payment from a US-based organisation for some work I've done, and together with details of my TMB account have been asked for details of a US correspondent bank. So far I haven't received a reply to my e-mail to TMB asking them to provide that information.. Does anybody know whether I need to specify more than my account details and if so what TMB's correspondent banks might be? Naturally I prefer the most economical option, I don't have a US bank account, did not do the work in the US and am not a US citizen.
Thailand'S Universal Health Coverage Scheme At Risk
2012-01-28 23:49:58
During a week when hundreds of international experts gathered at the Prince Mahidol Award Conference in Bangkok to discuss the success of Thailand’s universal health coverage scheme (UCS), changes in the top echelons of the Thai health care administration threaten to put the UCS at risk. Pro-reformists were dismayed when Public Health Minister Wittaya Buranasiri appointed new experts to the National Health Security Office board, who are known to favour an expansion of private hospital provision and the policies of the Ministry of Health conservatives. The reformists fear increases in the percentage of budgets allocated to inpatient hospital care, a loss of monies for preventive and promotive services, a concentration of resources in the larger hospitals of the central region, and more use of the branded rather than generic drugs that big pharma want to sell. A source close to Government has let it be known that the current Director-General of NHSO, a strong supporter of pro-poor policies, is unlikely to be reappointed for a second term.
Could it be that the pro-big business elements in the Yingluck government are flexing their muscles and that, under the guiding influence of PReMA, the private health industry and the Medical Council of Thailand, ministers are about to undo the good work of 2001-02 and so betray their rural constituency? How will the red shirted people of the rural north and Isaan, who gave so much for Puea Thai, react when they discover that the new settlement between the elites puts their free health care in doubt?
Some snippets are out and more of this story will break soon.

Growing Concerns About Bird Flu In Ne
2010-08-25 16:10:43
Contacts in public health circles are telling me of growing concerns about a possible outbreak of the H5N1 virus in central Isaan. It is said that there is one confirmed case in Kalasin keet 14, with other cases awaiting test results. The story is that the MoPH is not keen to publicise this. It is too early to panic but members may wish to keep a special eye out for mystery illnesses, especially in children, and seek testing at an early stage. Early symptoms include fever, cough, sore throat, muscle aches, and conjunctivitis.
Renew Wife'S Thai Passport In Isaan
2010-08-03 16:12:18
I found to my surprise last week that the Khon Kaen passport office is still closed after the fire, and will need to go to Udon or Ubon. My wife's passport needs renewing. I probably favour Udon but am not sure where the passport office there is. Does anybody know the location and opening hours? Thanks in advance!
