Sorry if this has already been dealt with.
Every time I try to reply to a thread by pressing the 'Quote' button, the quote is always reproduced twice in my reply window.
What am I doing wrong? How can I make a reply, quoting a previous post, without having the previous post shown twice? OK I can delete the duplication but that's not the correct solution.
BTW I am using Google Chrome.
Thank you

A Mighty Storm Hit Mabprachan Lake Last Night.
2012-05-16 11:44:38
There was one God almighty spectacular electrical storm out by the lake Mabprachan last night - one of the most ferocious I have witnessed in the past 7 years.
The lightning was almost non-stop for a while and the wind must have been close to gale force. The missus had some of her home made sun shelters which were attached to the house blown down and the local primary schools have delayed the start of the new term to clear iup the mess and deal with damage.
The teachers probably could also do with some kip as we had a 7 hour power cut from around 9 pm to 4 a.m.and the humidity was extremely high, making a good night's sleep almost impossible.
They must have tried to re-start the power about 10 times but every time the fans burst into life, within seconds they went off again. Then at 3 a.m the power finally returned and we all closed up our houses and adjourned to our air conditioned bedrooms, and laid down on our beds when, after about 10 minutes, the power went off again, leaving us hot and sweaty in our closed up bedrooms.
An hour later the power finally returned for good.
The joys of life in Thailand
Anyone else have any storm stories from last night?

How Does Ais Know Which Device You Are Accessing Your 3G On?
2012-04-30 17:40:24
This is something that has been bugging me for ages.
If you check out the various AIS monthly 'plans' for providing unlimited Edge/3G, you will find that there are different rates for different devices. The unlimited price for a Blackberry is cheaper than that for an iPad, which is different again from a Samsung Tablet, and different again from various makes of smart phones.
How on earth do AIS know what device you have put your SIM into, and in any case, why the differential in the monthly rates?
Doesn't make much sense to me...!!!

Questions On Quality Of Laptop Sound And Video When Transferred To External Sources.
2012-04-28 11:57:52
Can someone please resolve my confusion?
Laptops have their own audio software, which is used when playing sound through their built in speakers and also when using the headphone socket.
My questions are:
1. When connecting from the headphone outlet to an external source (external speaker/amp system), to what extent is the quality of sound dependant on the lap top internal audio software and to what extent is it reliant on the external speaker system amplifier?
Media players loaded on laptops, such as WIN, GOM or VLC have their own EQ systems which can dramatically alter the quality of the sound. So what is at play here? The Lap top audio system, the external speaker/ amp system, or the media player EQ system - or do they all interplay with each other?
2. When playing audio and video via the laptop HDMI port to a Television, what video and sound systems are in play here? Is the sound purely reliant on the sound system of the TV or does the quality of the laptop audio software have any bearing on the quality? Similarly the video – is this reliant on the quality of the TV picture format, provided of course that the lap top can transmit HD video, or does the graphics card in the laptop have any effect on the picture quality?
These questions may seem obvious to those of you who know about these things but I would appreciate any ‘not too technical’ answers from anyone willing to educate a bit of a computer numbskull.
Thank you
