#5315158 A - Z Of Daytime Things To Do On And Around Samui

Hot Air ballooning... ? really, where is the dry ski slope ?

If you are flying in on the A380 to the new airport, it is just behind the passenger terminal. If, however, you are using the tunnel from Donsak, you need to take a left after the first set of lights. Of course if you are using the new bridge, then you need to double back on the exit ramp and then head towards the waterfalls. You can't miss it, the dry ski slope used to be the indoor ski slope before the winds took the roof off and the waterfalls dried up.Posted Image

It's always the large one isn't it? Posted Image

And now she's the large one "at large."

#5290765 Jealous German Skinhead Knife Killer Caught In Khon Kaen

Posted pedro01 on 2012-05-11 10:02:06

He's somewhat of a confused Nazi to have an Asian girlfriend. He must have been off the day they did "white supremacy" at school.

The pic of him yesterday was a guy with hair. Is this an attempt at an image change or is this guy a genuine skinhead?

I think you have to get an exemption document from the army draft board.  If you are now over 30, this should be quite easy, since you are no longer eligible for conscription.  If you are under 30, it may be more difficult and cost some money.  Alternatively you could see another side of life and join up.  They love to have Thais with special language skills that can help with teaching or liaison with foreign militaries and would probably give you a soft job after basic training.  If you volunteer I think you only need to serve six months.

Samran knows about this, as he went through the process of getting an exemption as an over 30 year old.

5 years ago, the prospect would have tempted me but now I just need that document for a job which interview I aced (oh this is not a real verb) ^^
I'm 29 and the clock is ticking.... birthday on 19 July but I had to pay (15 000) already. The thing is that they can't give me that document because I didn't do the Lor Dor.

I'll be given a special document which I'm afraid the company will look at with doubtful eyes!

You have put yourself in a position where you are getting ripped off for nothing. You shouldn't be looking for a lor dor exemption!!!

The rules are very clear, in the year you turn 30 you become exempt from military service. That sounds like you.

The authorities couldn't conscript you if they tried.

They'll give you a release letter, and a certificate, the code of which I can't remember.

#5281967 The Essence Of Being Hi-So

Posted David48 on 2012-05-08 04:57:04

You know, my Thai Gf must be different.

According to the OP's definition she is definitely not 'HI-SO' ... the daughter of a Fish Farmer never could be ... heck, she doesn't even own a car.

Can't be 'LOW-SO' because she's university educated ...

Humm, not HI-SO, nor LOW-SO ... that must make her, by definition 'SO-SO'.

When I speak with her next I will inform her of her new class rating according the learned people here on TVF ... then DUCK.

And keep ducking until all the bullets have been fired ... or I'm dead.

Speaking of the Fish Farm, they had a duck there, thought that it was good security but the darn thing keep on squawking on about nothing ... now a dead duck, not a pretty sight ... tasty though.

Footnote ... in keeping in line with the PC directive, there is no implication that being without a University education defines you as LOW-SO.

#5278972 Move To Samui?

Posted Tropicalevo on 2012-05-07 00:08:18

That is one way to look at it 'insert'. Another way is to  ........

.......drop out of the rat race. Find a quiet location with some of the best views in the world. Enjoy hot to warm weather for 350 days of the year (the other 15 are cool days). Enjoy sunshine and calm seas for 10 months of the year.

Fabulous beaches, warm sea, great food (compared to most places in the UK) cold beer and lovely people that smile at you when you say hello.

A shxtty day here is still far better than an average day in lots of other places. It depends on your outlook to life. Positive outlook, positive life. I earn a fraction of the money that I did in the real world, but Disneyland still looks good when it looks like tropical beaches, warm weather and fabulous views.

I worked for 34 years, eventually enjoying top hotels, flying to different places every week, living in a new country every two/three years, and having a great time eating, drinking and travelling. I met some great people and really enjoyed my job.

I do not miss one single aspect of it now that I have stopped on Samui. (Except maybe a bit more money? Posted Image )

Every morning I wake up and look at a great view and know that today I will meet and talk to some really nice folks. I will have a great meal and a couple of beers. Perfect. I have been on 'holiday' on samui for 12 years now. It's still PDG. Posted Image

#5275104 A Different Kind Of Tourist

Posted itishothere on 2012-05-05 11:28:53

Last week the triathlon. Tomorrow the mountain bike race. This week the bikers.

Not many appear to be here for the property market I guess. Nor are any of them of a particular nationality.

Short term, a good boost to the low season. Great events in my opinion, they add diversity to the calendar.

Posted Darkskin on 2012-05-01 23:43:42

Hi all of you I am the poor/bar girl/Muslim girl/essarn girl oh I could go on and on.  Thank you to those of you whom spoke good of me.  I did not kidnap my future stepson, I am not trying to steal any body's money as I have enough of my own.  The house you laughed at if I was the future wife of a billionaire was actually not my house but a coffee shop I met the reporter in.   My skin is dark as I work outdoors alot, but i still cannot understand why anybody living in Samui and using this forum could be racist towards me.  All of you were informed of my stepsons disappearance after he was found so please do not treat this site as your news.  This was a serious incident with Marcus and this site without my permission changed wording and turned it into what seems like a joke to all. Thank you for taking the time to read this thread and thank you to those of you who said kind words for Marcus and I.
Marcus is looking forward to returning to his family this week.

As one other person said..."A picture is worth a thousand words"! It is very clear that the girl "step mother to be" is barley holding back a smile? Has she been paid already or is she looking forward to the big pay day? It is very clear that this is a kidnapping...or are we all blind to the truth? Sad to say but the young man will most probably never be seen again...my heart goes out to him! His father and " step mother to be" should be hung from the highest tree!!! One for being stupid as hell...the other for being a heartless greedy piece of shit!!! BEWARE TO ALL FOREIGNERS IN THAILAND...YOU ARE NOT SAFE HERE ANYMORE!!!
Ever bothered to read some updates through the thread before you make stupid posts?

Yes, you are right. I tried to delete the post after reading more. My mistake...sorry! After reading more i think the whole story is BS and we are all wasting our time!!!

Behave yourself issandon. This is the Samui Forum. We don't put up with people spouting uninformed nonsense here you know.

If you don't behave we will send you off to Phuket!! Posted Image
