Change From Work Permit Extension To Marriage Extension

We have a female employee who entered Thailand several years ago on an Multiple Entry O Visa based on marriage to a Thai. Shortly thereafter, she was employed and got a Work Permit. Present extensions based on Work Permit. She now wishes to change to Extension based on marriage. Can this be done at local Immigration or does she have to depart Thailand and apply for visa? We are getting conflicting info on this.

Having a little debate with the local Labour Department.
We regularly apply for Work Permits for our employess.
In the little Booklet that the Labour Department publish as a guide to completing application for WP, it clearly states that supporting documents such as diplomas, etc., can be in English and do not need to be translated. However, our local Labour Department office insists on translationin Thai (much fun with transcripts).
I am interested in what other regular applicants for WP experience in Bangkok and other provinces in this regard.
