Help Please With Apple Store

2012-05-26 15:18:13

Hi i love my ipad and even my iphone. But i hate the apple store i just recently bought a mobile device that would count my calories that i burned. I need to wear it on my body. (health freak here). Anyway it also uses bluetooth and can there is a mobile version for the ipad. That would give me more information and i dont have to connect it to my computer to download the date.

However the app isnt available for Thailand :( . I try to do everything ok pay for stuff and because those stupid limitations from apple i cant even download the app. Is there any workaround ? i dont wan't to jailbreak my ipad. I love it all nice and legal. Its just this one app that i want to download. Available in US / Australia but not here.

I really don't like this system its on of the few things i think that suck about the product. Other then that completely satisfied with my ipad and iphone. So if someone could help me out here.

Meanwhile i also send an support email to the manufacturer of the bodymedia fit.

Refrigirator Failing

2012-05-25 09:43:51

I'm not technical at all and i'm inclined to buy a new one. This one is 5 years old and during the flooding i had to move it a few times. After that it has bad spells, sometimes it just starts to freeze all my food. Then its good for a few weeks again.

I haven't changed any settings and its quite annoying to find my milk frozen. The fact that it works good for weeks on end and then has a bad spell again baffels me but gives me a bit of hope it might be fixable.

Does anyone have an idea what it could be and if making it would be feasible. If not ill just go and buy an other one bigger one this time.

The fridge was about 12k or so and 5 years old if i have to spend 5k on it i think i would rather go for a new one.

So i hope some technical guys can advise me a bit, had the gf calling the manufacturer for a mechanic. They never showed up, we could try that a few more time and push them more but sounds like they are not interested in fixing.

Concept 2 Rower Model D (Exercise For Fat Loss)

2012-05-23 21:08:53

I am making a thread here about the concept 2 rower model D. I have heard reports that it costs 80.000 upwards here to buy in Thailand.

But because there is no importer in Thailand you can buy it straight from concept. Its all quite easy and straightforward. Terry the guy over there is a great help.

I have imported one myself it just arrived today, I will give as much information for others as possible and later in the post give some of the advantages of the rower over other forms of cardio that you can buy.

The concept rower costs 1050$ with ipv4 monitor. shipping is 310$ if you pick it up yourself or 420$ if they bring it at your door. If i did not already had asked a lot to the shipper and agreed to use him i would have gone for the door to door option. But that option only became available after that fact. Also its quite possible that fed ex will charge extra clearance costs as i have seen them do that with other shipments too (on top of the import duty and vat)

1050 + 310 = 1360 $ however the customs office said the rowers price was 1250$ not 1050 (invoice does not matter for them its a set price. Dont ask my why but my shipper (who is a mod here at the forum and who i trust) told me so. I paid 8642 bt for vat and import duties

it goes something like this

(1250 + 310) x 10% = 156
(1250 + 310 + 156 ) x 0,07 = 120
156 +120 = 276
276 * 31 (that is the rate they used) 8556 (so pretty close to what i paid)

I just put this here to give people information about cost, I also have to pay my shipper for clearing 4000-5000 bt.

so in total i got the rower for 54556 baht.

That is a great price for such a professional machine. It will help me a lot working out because its intensive and not as boring as riding my exercise spinning bike. For that amount of money you wont find a professional machine (eleptical or anything with gymroom quality)

I will have to learn how to row as there is some technique to it and i want the correct movement. The rower has as advantage that you can race against yourself and you will see boat that is you in a previous session. There are also millions of other things for the rower out on the concept forum. There you can learn how to get the most out of the rower.

One great thing about it is how easy it is stored. once your done you can put it away in 2 halved and store it vertical. That is great for my home gym or else i cant fit it all. I already have a well filled room with gym equipment. (power rack with olympic barbel, spinning bike, triceps dips / ab construct, adjustable bench, 3 sets of of dumbbells witch changeable weight, 250 kg of weight plates, and a triceps pull down / lat pull / pec deck machine that you see for sale with extra weights. I have been using all this stuff for years already and it kept me in shape. I inmagine the rower will help me a lot with keeping in general shape and loose the last bits of fat. (i might have gone to a gym if they were closer. But the closest pinkloa is at least half an hour or more away) its just too much for me as i train 4-5 days a week.

Maybe a little bit too much info but its mainly about the rower. I hope others benefit from this and start working out too. Its not only for fat loss its good for your health.

Fat %

2012-04-17 09:16:25

More then a few times have i seen the mention of fat percentage and measuring it.

Tropo did it the best (being dunked in water) hydrostatic measurement.

Other ways are a skin caliper (can be real accurate if done by a professional) I even got a caliper here but dont use it.

By one of those electical devices (scales ect) Mostly they are crap i got one here too and i really don't know what to make of it.

For what its worth, i don't use them anymore because i cant find a way that is easy to do and accurate. If they had hydrostatic measurements in BKK im sure i would go there once a month or so (depending on price).

Now i just look at my weight going down and the belt getting looser or using a tape measure. I am not focussed on the % of body fat but on how i look because i haven't found a good way to measure.

For me its just a way to keep track of progress not a goal on itself.

Wonder what you guys are thinking, im just trying to keep the discussion going here because there are knowledgeable people here on the board.

I do know that fat percentage is a lot more important then weight, as a low weight without muscles means your still fat while a high weight (mine) with muscles can mean your lean.

BMI is worthless for people who seriously do weight training.

Considering New Training Shedule

2012-04-11 09:14:58

Hi,

I posted it here to get some feedback from the guys that workout too.

So far i have been doing great on 5 x 5

doing squat 5 x 5 with 110 kg (deep squats), benchpress 5 x 5 with 125 kg and deadlifts with 155 kg. Doing this on monday with the weights mentioned wednesday with 80% of those weights and friday with 100%. I have been increasing those weights with 2,5 of 5 kg per week. I made great progress in strenght and muscle even though im on a diet. But now the calory restrictions and probably the end of my easy strenght gains i feel tired. Its actually hell to do a program like this because IMHO its much heavier then split. Because your always doing deadlifts and squat these are killer exercises. I think i need to slow down a bit for a while and recover because i almost cant get extra weights on deadlift and i dread exercising a bit.

Now im thinking of going back to a split training 4 times a week maybe 5. But the problem is when i do that i wont be hitting the muscles as much as i am now. I have done this in the past but for some reason now i think it won't give me the progress i was making with the 5 x5. I am looking here to get more muscle or at least not loose muscle while on my diet.  I was thinking of doing every muscle group 1,5 times a week. Would that be enough ? I am also considering a break from deadlifts because i hurt a bit in my upper back. It does not prevent me from training or hurt too much but its always good to be injury free. But deadlift is one of the major muscle builders. Your views please.

Goal is to loose an other 8 kg i lost 10kg already. The last 8 will be hard because that will bring my bodyfat percentage low enough for good visible abs (or so i hope). I see my upper abs clearer now still some fat on them. The lower abs also need to loose weight and of course some in my sides and back.

I am mainly hoping to get Tropo to answer here and there are some other people knowledgeable too. I am thinking of training in the 8 -10 rep range.  I do know enough about training myself but having some others give their opinion might help and i might have overlooked something.
