Yes, the vowels are in the paid version when they release that, as I don't think they have released that yet.
But the exams for all included lessons works well for me, so I'm not sure why you think the exams aren't there. They aren't there for the vowels of course.
I will email them to ask for move to sd, as yes that's useful on my budget handset, which is limited on space.
As for the groupings of letters, the help file says that they are grouped by complexity, to help the learning process (start easy and get gradually harder). As it's a writing teacher I think it works well.
I'm most of the way through the free version, so I'm hoping they release the paid version soon, as it's pretty useful. I like the fact that I can always have a go for a few minutes, without the need to find pen and paper, although my handwriting suffers a little on screen.
I'm hoping they keep going with it and keep it updated with new functions etc. I guess that depends on enough people downloading and buying it though...

It should be noted that there is talk of Amazon releasing a kindle with an inbuilt light, to illuminate the page when reading at night. That would suit me great, as I usually read in bed, but it's worth considering waiting if it would also suit you.
Of course, you could also buy their lighted cover which is very nice.

You cannot download movies or music through Amazon when in Thailand. So the fire, which is a device for consuming Amazon content is no good for that here. It will still work as an Android tablet, but as I said above, if your primary reason for looking for kindle is reading books, avoid the fire (or buy both). E-ink screen on the normal kindle devices means that it is the same as reading from a printed page. with the fire, it's like reading a book on your laptop screen or your TV... I.e. not very comfortable for your eyes if reading for lengthy periods (over 45 mins).
Feel free to pm me or post questions on here, as I know both devices very well, and should be able to help.
The best thing for you to do is decide what you want the device for?

GREAT info here. Thanks to all.
Has anyone had a normal Kindle AND a Kindle Fire?
Curious if getting the fire is worth the extra cost. A poster above said something about it being limited abroad. What limits are there?

What a nice chap you are.
I know the difference, and didn't say I didn't know, or even hint at it.... I used a turn of phrase to indicate my kindle was bought a while ago, but wasn't precise about that as it has little bearing on the OP.
Did I hurt your feelings when I suggested that maybe buying from the UK isn't necessarily the best option?
Congratulations for being good at "sums". Pity your arithmetic doesn't extend to knowing the difference between 12 or 24 months...

Just did the sums, and I reckon you are deffo better off ordering direct from Amazon.com (Mine arrived in about 3 days when I ordered mine a year or two ago)

An ereader without e-ink defeats the purpose for me. I want a kindle to read with. A backlit screen just doesn't cut it. Otherwise id use the iPad I bought, or my Samsung Note.
The availability of content for the Fire when overseas means it's a low end tablet with little redeeming features for any user overseas. Admittedly, it's a good price for what you get, but a good e-reader it is not.

I'm on my second 3G Kindle. With the first, the screen went unreadable. This is a common problem known to Amazon and they quickly replaced my Kindle. Now part of my second Kindle's screen has the same problem and I can't read some words.
I can't be bothered getting it replaced. I'm waiting for the Kindle Fire to be released in UK. It's full colour and has more features like a Tablet. You could order from US Amazon. But check for comparability issues.
