" for the sake of public safety"....

I would have thought the nut behind the wheel had a lot more to do with road safety.

Again it's the African Elephant Burial Ground Syndrome. Farangs go to Thailand to when they are ready to die, like the African Elephants go to a central location..... Hmmm this is so weird. It has to be above the average norm.

I think this needs to have the name,,"Farang Elephant Syndrome". Good material for a student to write his thesus.

#5176985 Dating Muslima

Posted GentlemanJim on 2012-03-30 14:01:20

Don't.......Seriously!

There are so many guys near where I live that continue to fall in to this trap. They all end up separated and/or divorced. The reasons are simple. If your relationship gets that serious you want to marry then you will have to/pretend convert to Islam. Once you have children the problems will start. About the age of two or three the wife's parents will insist on a strong muslim upbringing for their Grandchild. You may be living away from the Grandparents home area, but your wife WILL up and leave with your child, back to her parental home. There are many broken hearted men I know and when I hear another is about to embark on the same course of action I just say why? I have not known a relationship in Thailand between a muslim girl/non muslim man end any differently. If you have a baby girl she will be a valuable 'asset' to the family, new blood, whitish skin, worthy of a good dowry. I am not being racist or bigoted, these are just the facts from many many thai men I know that fell in love with a muslim woman. All will be great and well until you have children and they reach toddler age. Your wife may even love you very much but when her parents say 'come home and bring the child', thats it, and you will get NO visiting rights.

By the way, don't be fooled by the no sex before marriage thing. Young Muslim women are just as curious about sex as any other young woman, but don't get caught, her brothers will have your gonads.

So...you have been warned.  Good luck.

No such thing in Thailand as sub judice. You can only be in contempt of court if you are actually in contempt of court.
You are wrong about that.  There have been several publicized cases of contempt of court in Thailand.  The definition is broader here than other countries and includes publication/news.   Example here

"But most urgent and important is the need to reform the Contempt of Court Law, so that the media can report in detail on court proceedings, and so that both the public and the media can freely discuss and comment on court rulings."   Thai World Affairs

"However, Thailand's strict contempt-of-court laws – which apply outside the courtroom – make open discussion of the judicial system very difficult. This, in turn, curtails critical reporting where abuses in the legal process may be widely suspected. A Thaksin lawyer was charged with contempt of court for his criticisms of some 2006 verdicts concerning the Election Commission.51 Successive Thai governments have always complied with judicial decisions."  UNHCR

Plenty more out there.

Not a good example. I have been done for contempt of court and acquitted. You can indeed write about cases prior to trial. You cannot criticise the court.

My contempt was: "I am in awe of the fact that the prosecutor in this case is the co-owner of the commercial sex business with the plaintiff"

Innocent until proven guilty even in Thailand. I too know them both and will not try to be judge and/or jury, up to the courts. This case has too much publicity to just be swept under the table with under the table funds, let the justice system preside. Drew has a sharp legal mind and will minimize the damage even if he pleads guilty with all the evidence that has been presented.
HaHa Ha Ha. Good to know that Drew still has a few gullible supporters left. A sharp legal mind? Is that what he told you? Oh dear!

The bottom line is that should the likes of Noyes, Colov, the bloke from the other forum and Drummond be booted from Thailand, Thailand will continue to function perfectly normally without them.

All this nonsense is part of the urge to try and be some sort of "Big Fish" in a pond where we, as Westerners, mean nothing to the locals....

In real terms, this has nothing to do with Thailand at all.
The bottom line to be fair is that to compare Noyes, Colov, and the pathetic specimen from the hardwood forum to Andrew Drummond is frankly, ridiculous. Drummond has spent the past two years or so trying to enlighten the expats of Pattaya about the activities of these shysters, at no small cost to himself. He has been threatened with violence including thinly veiled death threats, law suits designed to shut him up, all to no avail. He has stuck in there, refusing to be intimidated, and in many people's opinion has shown great bravery and integrity resisting these lowlife's attempts to silence him. He is a proper investigative journalist with a track record to prove it, sticking up for the small guy victims and should surely be applauded for his efforts on their behalf. We are lucky to have him. Surely anybody with even limited intelligence reading what passes for journalism in the newspapers of Pattaya must realise that they are just a vehicle for the self promotion of their proprietors. One of the leading pastimes of some of us sitting in coffee shops in Pattaya, is ' Counting the photos of the proprietor' in the Pattaya People. My personal best is 52, (yes, fifty two) pictures of Mr Colov in one edition of his organ. Makes the late Robert Maxwell look like a shrinking violet in comparison!
