Bangkok Lesbian Venues - (Over) Protective Father

2011-04-30 18:36:21

This is not an easy thing for me to ask however please could some of you ladies advise me of venues for my daughter and her partner to visit on their forthcoming trip here in a few months.  I just want them to be able to relax freely, fully and openly and, from what I have read here, gay tolerance and acceptance appears to be much higher than UK.

I have no idea of the etiquette (or their personal comfort level!)  regarding whether I could visit same before/with them and what age restrictions there might be as I am trying to loosen the (long absent) proverbial apron strings   and allow a measure of freedom that their (UK) mothers won't try to use as a reason to not allow them to visit us again.  Additionally, please could I also ask you to advise if I shouldn't try too hard to make these suggestions myself and/or I could refer them (and their mothers)  to websites/organisations/publications that they could research themselves.

Thanks in anticipation of some helpful responses, please feel free to PM me if you wish to check my veracity and/or if ypu prefer not to post openly although please be aware that I do not log on daily.

Legitmate/Legally Register Parental Status

2010-11-13 14:17:14

Had various multi entry non-imm o visas isued in KL/Singapore/Dubai, am not married to my partner, am under 50 years old, am not working, have proof of income letter (Brit Embassy), we have a 3 year old daughter and I am named as father on the birth certificate.

My current "stay" expires early next month (visa is to the end of Dec) and 2 immigration officers have given us 2 different, but positive, answers.  One says we have all the necessary paperwork to get the 1 year extension now, another says I have to get my parental status "legitimated".  If I could guarantee seeing Imm Offr 1 on reporting day then no problem!

Have looked at the civil code (Book V, Title II, Ch 1, Sects 1547, 1548 and 1555) and my own research suggests that the legitimising process takes quite some time, is rarely granted if the child is under 7 years and there do not appear to be any guides to costs and/or whether lawyers and tea money are/have to be involved.

Obviously when asked, immigration officers answer differently (or hang up!) and 3 legal firms have also answered differently (one quoted the 2003 regulations, not 2006).

Question:  1) has anyone under 50 and not married to their partner "legitimated" their child, guidance please and 2) if delayed in processing same, has temporary extension been granted pending outcome.

Thanks in anticipation. :ermm:

Sound Proofing/Damping/Deadening In Bangkok

2010-09-16 18:41:11

I am interested in sound-proofing/etc, in priority order, the windows & french doors in our master bedroom, second bedroom and living room.

Traffic noise, especially emergency sirens, motorbikes and lorries is increasingly affecting my sleep and even pervades my (foam aviation) earplugs.

If at all possible, a self fitting film would be preferred however, with 9 more months on the current lease, I may be able to approach our very amenable landlord for shared costs of a more permanent solution (double glazing?).

Dimensions and photos available if required and please note that plants are not an option as these are not allowed by the Juristic offices and impossible for up to three of the windows.

On a final note, we would be interested in fitting fly-screens on up to three of the windows and being able to change the opening door for the French windows.

Thanks in advance.
