RED-SHIRT DEATH
Soldier killed my brother : Sayam
The Nation

BANGKOK: -- A witness told Bangkok Southern Criminal Court yesterday he believed a soldier's grenade killed his elder brother during the red-shirt rally in 2010.

Sayam Prachuapsuk was the first witness to testify in a court hearing into the death of his brother, 42-year-old Prachuap Prachuapsuk. Prachuap, who joined the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship, died on May 16, 2010. Prachuap left behind a wife and three children.

"He was in the Bon Gai area during the clashes between soldiers and red-shirt demonstrators," Sayam said from the witness stand.

He said he was not with his brother at the time of his death - he was told the following day.

The court will hear from more witnesses in the case on Sept 3.
