#5298970 Benefits Of Getting The Retirement Visa If "Gaps" In My Retirement

There is no advantage to extension of stay if you travel often....

It seems to me that not all people in all countries find it very easy to get a 1 year visa issued these days. And you may not happen to be near a suitable Thai consulate when the visa expires.

The retirement extension is very easy to get here with an absolute minimum of paperwork and expense, as long as you are fairly sure to be in Thailand around the same time every year to extend it. Even if you miss it you can easily get another.

I could have gone the route of getting the 1-year visa every year as the OP was considering, but the retirement extension seemed much easier/cheaper all round to me, and all other ways of doing it seemed unnecessarily complex and demanding.

Please look above and see the other figure I have mentioned
May I ask how old you are ?

Let me make sure I understand what you're saying.  You are saying there is a direct causal link between 95% of women saying they don't enjoying giving oral sex and the fact that a French woman is killed by her husband every 2.5 days?

You're saying these murders occur because the women occasionally succumb to their dislike of oral sex and refuse to do it?

Seriously?

This proposition is as nutty as your racism thread.

By the way, I'm 47.

#5226769 NGV Shortage In Isaan Hurts Bus Firms, Drivers

The Thai government has been keeping the price of CNG* artificially low.  Now we are starting to see the consequences of that decision.

*NGV means 'Natural Gas Vehicle'.  The fuel is CNG 'Compressed Natural Gas' or methane.

#5222024 3 Murders As Songkran In Thailand Turns Ugly

Posted MEL1 on 2012-04-16 08:19:26

I've no doubt this will become a trend! Next year we won't be counting deaths by wreckless and drunk driving, but the number of murders. :(

It really is time to clamp down and control the revelling. Limit it to controlled areas, where those who want an official soaking go to meet.

One really does sick and tire of songkran after some lengthy time living here!

#5200363 Alcohol Obsession By Foreigners In Thailand

Posted robblok on 2012-04-08 11:08:52

Seems i touched a nerve about the Brits drinking a lot. I don't understand how you guys even deny it coming from a culture of pubs and binge drinking. Its does not mean every Brit is like this just like not every Dutch guy is a pot head. Just means that the law of averages shows more Brits are like this.

If people say that more Dutch use drugs i say fine does not bother me because i don't use it. Might be that people who use it feel the need to deny it.

Anyway seems the better weather and the boredom are the contributing factors here then.

Thais drink more than most foreigners here.  Foreigners only drink too much trying to emulate the Thais.

At least the foreigners on Thai Visa.

Youv'e lived in Thailand for too long when you wake up and realize that you have nothing to do and a whole day to get there.

A lot of folks drink because they have nothing better to do.

this is an appalling crime - try functioning without a thumb even simple tasks become impossible.
How about some retributive justice ? In this case let the punishment fit the crime !

Take delight in it and embrace it,  be the proudest man in the room,  and let her know how proud of her you are.

You're not in competition with your wife, you are a partnership.

Posted dhrobertson on 2012-03-27 17:13:37

My god, there are some pretty awful people out there.

If you get to see electrocuted people regularly as I do, you would not wish that on anybody.

Protecting a business? Oh, well that's alright then.....guns? pitbulls? are you American or something?

You can errect and electric fence which will protect you well enough but will not deliver a fatal amount of current. It takes only 50mA since you ask.

Pity the courts don't hand down sentences like this to electricians and contractors who cause death by criminal negligence.

#5142998 Corruption In Thailand

Posted OZEMADE on 2012-03-18 02:22:20

You will never stop corruption in Thailand. If you did, the wages would go up to that of western countries, for all employees of all companies and government people. eg The Police would have to be paid about Bt 100,000 a month instead of Bt 9000 a month. Book everyone legally, then there would be no need to take tea money. Put traffic infringement cameras in all traffic lights and on the side of the highways etc.
This would then effect all the industries that deal in Thailand that have their products made here with cheap labour. They would leave for Vietnam or other cheap manufacturing labour countries. So by doing this you would increase the prices of all demestic products, food and the like. I could guarantee, there would be no Falungs living here as they would be in the same boat as they were in their country.
Bottom line, NOT GONNA HAPPEN.Posted Image to Thailand.

#5138789 Pm Yingluck Orders All Budget Airlines To Fly From Don Mueang Airport

Posted TackyToo on 2012-03-16 12:58:06

Suvarnabhumi Airport is already 3 mio passengers over its capacity. They cut themselves off of 2/3 handling capacity of immigration counters.
They start renovations and have no timeline for completion.
They propose a bus service between DM and Suvarnabhumi Airport while the average speed on Bangkok’s roads is less than 15 km/h.
The road connection was partly flooded during last monsoon and there is no guarantee it will not happen again. Distance between the airports 45 km (official driving time 50 mins)

Let’s estimate 40 mins arrival procedure at Suvarnabhumi add cueing up for the bus shuttle and driving time 65 mins. Plus 60 mins prior to check in at DM comes close to 3 hours. If you have a death wish in jour job as a travel agent try to sell this to a family with two kids and luggage for 3 weeks holiday in the Thai Light Zone.

This is what you get, if the clowns run the circus!

That's all not the problem,if  I travel to other countries like UAE,Malaysia,Singapore or back to Europe, the passport control takes 1-2minutes per person, sometimes less than that, here in Thailand it takes 3-5 min.i think Thai immigration officers are afraid to make a mistake,or maybe their computer is outdated

#5122647 I Want To Put On 3Kg Of Muscle

Posted robblok on 2012-03-10 13:15:06

@connda,

Talking about misinformation... reaching muscle failure each and every training day will be hard and will lead to over training. How do you define muscle failure ?

About training shedules.. there are so many out there. I am sure you have tried many too. Some work for you and some don't. I done many too and must say the one i do now keeps working the longest so far. Does not mean i will go on with it forever. If i get bored with it i might have to change.

You are right about being consistent that is the biggest problem and it affects me too. Actually it affects me more then i want at least once a year something happens that gets me off training for a month or so. (mostly my parents visiting for a month and going with them on a holiday). I think many people have stuff like this. Its bad.. but almost unavoidable.

#5122634 I Want To Put On 3Kg Of Muscle

Posted connda on 2012-03-10 13:05:21

A lot of misinformation out there.  First, don't be too serious.  Your not shooting to be a world class body builder.  I've been weight training for 30 years.  I'm now 60.  I weight train to maintain the muscle I have.  With that said:
  • Get a gym membership so you have access to free weight and machines
  • Supplement with Creatine Monohydrate.  2 to 5 mg / day.  This supplement helps with muscle endurance.  You can crank out more reps with higher intensity
  • Train upper and lower body on alternate days.  Example:
    • Day 1: upper body
    • Day 2: lower body
    • Day 3: Cardio
    • Day 4: upper body
    • Day 5 Cardio
    • Day 6: lower body
    • Day 7: rest
  • Train between 3 to 6 sets per muscle group using 8 to 12 reps
  • Isolate the muscle you are training by using slow, deliberate lifts
    • Count of 3 lifting / count of 3 lowering
  • Use sufficient weight to fully fatigue the muscle by the last lift of you repetition.  You should reach muscle failure.
  • After your workout, eat a high protein meal.  Watch your eating though.  Posters will tell you that you need to eat, eat, eat!!!  Yeah, if you're in your 20s.  How old are you?  As you get older, as you eat, eat, eat, where do you think that food is going -- some muscle, a lot of fat.  Your gonna put both muscle and fat on, but you need to watch how much.  It's a balancing act as you get older.  Eat high quality, nutrition dense foods.  Watch your carbs and don't skip the cardio.
  • Be patient.  Gauge you progress in months, not days.  Take pictures now, then one month, two month, three month.  You'll see progress over time.
  • Be consistent.  If you train hard this week, and get lazy next week -- don't bother.  Make a schedule and stick to it for at least 3 months.  Then modify what your doing to meet you future goals.
Have fun!
