Got to be new low when you are less popular than Robert Amsterdam. I know of sexually transmitted diseases that are more popular than him.

#5189655 Life In Thai Prison, Is It Really That Bad. ?

Posted Hawk on 2012-04-04 02:23:52

Life in a Thai jail is not as bad as some ex inmates like Fellowes makes out at all.

Yes they are overcrowded, and one's sleeping space is small but knowing the right people in the cell can get a bigger space. Most prisoners have either a mattress or blankets to sleep on, so no hard concrete for any foreigner. Rooms have fans as well. The jails are keep very clean and tidy inside.

Food is some jails is much worse than others but if a person has money, then they can buy all kinds of things at fairly reasonable prices.  If a prisoner has visits, then food can be sent in to him or her.

Every prison has a shop that sells a variety of things from soap to bananas etc.

No foreigner works, they are alowed to do as they please, within reason, all day, that would be from about 7 am to about 4 pm.

There are TVs around showing videos, usually on weekends and holidays.

Many jails also have markets inside, prisoners trading items on the pathways.

Prisoners run laundry services, haircutting etc all for very reasonable prices, so a foreigner can live okay.

Rape is very, very rare, as nearly all jails have katoeys who sell their services.

Guards beating prisoners is also quite rare, it does happen but not very often at all, and as for killing prisoners by brute force, no. If a prisoner has a contract out on him, then another prisoner will be paid to do the hit.

Thai prisoners are quite sociable to foreigners but they can get greedy if they see a foreigner has money or lots of goodies, and some will constantly beg.

Foreigners are left alone provided they follow the rules and don't fight or cause problems for the guards, like being rude, selling drugs, making alcohol, etc.

All jails have  telephones available for a price, so foreigners can contact people outside.

The police, courts are all corrupt as hell, so if a foreigner or Thai has money, then sentences can be greatly reduced or even made to disappear altogether.  Some guards are also very corrupt opening the door for illegal things to be taken in.  Money can get you just about most things in a Thai jail, so life can be quite relaxing for the rich if they are forced to do time.

I dunno, these all look like parodies.
How about Basil (don't mention the war) Fawlty?
Mel Brooks?
Or Team America and Kim Il Jong?

The best way to depower something is to laugh at it. These shirts would be an anathema to a hardcore neo nazi.
It's been 70 years, how long do we want to carry this cross?

I say get a grip.

#3926268 Child Porn On Sukhumvit Stirs Outrage

Posted jcbangkok on 2010-10-04 00:56:54

This is just another story to get people going. A topic that causes heated exchanges and the irrational to come out in full force.  I challenge anyone here to post a picture of anyone selling child porn openly on the street in any part of Thailand. It like drugs are a problem in every country but as with drugs in Thailand ... it is not done openly.

I believe a number of people who have a strong feeling about porn tend to see what they want to see and a young but legal girl on the cover all of a sudden becomes a kid .. especially to some old dude.   There are a number of very strange replies to posts here from people simply stating facts. There topic clearly brings out some of the nutty paranoid pretending to be holier than thou folks. It has always been my experience that these are the folks who one needs be suspicious of.  It is often those who protest the loudest that are the most guilty.

It would almost be just as ignorant to come on to this forum and advocate child porn as it would be selling it in broad daylight on the street. But for some here, it seems they want to believe both are true and will see and read in away that helps them to believe this.  One really has to wonder why these people WANT to see such things

#3927327 Newin Alleges Thaksin Behind Reported Assassination Attempts

Does he have the evidence to prove this?

- of course not - all just propaganda - and if he was "in tears" he was  probably drunk and splashed some soda in his face to enhance the drama.

What ever lie one makes up if people hear it again and again - they start to think it is the truth.

Funny how this article in The Nation sounds compared to the one in the BP. - Newin actually never mentioned Thaksin's name.

I will never forget a little story in our textbooks in school when I was about 9.

The story was to teach us how the press is able to manipulate us just by presenting  "news" in a way to support their view or incriminate others.

The pope came to visit the US and arriving in New york he stepped of the plane. Reporters where waiting and one reporter asked the pope - "your holiness will you be visiting a strip club while in New York"? - the pope thought this a very silly question and answers jokingly and surprised "are there any strip clubs in New York?"

After several other questions the pope and his entourage leave. The next morning the pope receives the newspapers and can't believe what the headline of the paper from the first repoerter he met here reads!

- FIRST QUESTION OF HIS HOLINESS THE POPE AFTER STEPPING OF THE PLANE IN THE US - "Are there any strip clubs in New york?" -

Newin is nothing but a manipulator!

I fail to see how this is a problem.

Many bars do not let them in either, because we don't want to drink with them.

I said to a bargirl once, 'Why do you keep the blacks out?' and she said 'Because if Farang see African man, he not come in'.
I said 'Yep, you're right'.

All they do is try and sell me cocaine, and try to 'look after me' on Sukhumvit. It gets quite tiring.

I ran out of reds today but will be back tomorrow to give you one.

I know plenty of those white folks who sell drugs also you bigot!

It shows the kind of people you associate with then, ive never once seen a white male pushing drugs in Sukhumvit or causing trouble in gangs like the West Africans do, theyre the reason why i will never step into this area again in the evening.

Pity the decent blacks suffer because of them. This company must have their reasons for taking such measures.

Thanks for your post which reminds us that racism is as widespread amongst Westerners as it is amongst Thais.

One night for a laugh as I was walking around the Nana - Asok area, I decided to simply approach every black I saw and ask for cocaine or weed. Every single one was able to give me info, prices, tell me where to go.

The only reason Africans are there is to commit crime. I'm not speaking from prejudice, I am speaking from experience.

As for the Indians, they're just .. [ 2 words deleted ]

#3924357 Emergency To Be Extended In Bangkok

Posted asiawatcher on 2010-10-03 07:29:30

It gets so boring to continually hear the same broken record viz "...one of the Pheu Thai members, called on the government to dissolve the House."  Posted Image

The you have their idea of reconcilliation viz

"... Stop hunting down the red shirts, or malice will result in revenge;"  Threats to Thailand's population that basically means they want the perpetrators of the cargange and burning of Bangkok to be forgiven.  No ... sorry fools!

"... Stop the bomb attacks;"  So let's just blame the Dems for the continuing Grenade attacks around Thailand.  Of course none of the reds have been involved in any bombing.  Now they are starting to believe their own brainwashing.

"... Stop all large-scale rallies by all sides, which he said would result in confrontation and counter-measures;"  That is what the SOE decree is all about but you all just ignored your own request Sept 17-19!  Double standards or selective memory?

" ... Stop violating the monarchy or exploiting it for personal and political gains;"  Again, double standards from the top down by your leaders and rabble.

"...  Stop the state of emergency"  Why?  So you can start blockading streets again and causing unrest and civil disobedience leading to criminal assaults?

The SoE should be maintained indefinitely until perhaps the elections despite its rather slight impact on Thai society.  It is only those wishing to stir up trouble who want it lifted and for the rest of us, it has no impact whatsoever that I can see!  But in all seriousness against the evolution of Thai politics, if the opposition party and its Red followers want any chance at the election, they should drop their convicted criminal mentor puppet master, change their whining and whinging, and start a charter of positive improvements towards public sensibilities.

Many of those I have spoken with feel the Reds have some legitimate gripes and we all see a lot of problems as Farangs looking in at Thailand and its political circus.  But under present leadership and opposition there can never be reconcilliation when the majority of motivation is at the behest of one mans greed and attempt to retrieve seized ill gotten assets.

Magnets shmagnets!!

Twenty years + ago it was all about gyroscopes. Just Google Sir Eric Laithwaite, the inventor of the linear induction motor who lost it towards the end. He was debunked and discredited (sadly because if his ideas had really worked big oil would now be big gyroscope).

Actually biffer, if you subscribe to the inflationary universe theory http://csep10.phys.u.../inflation.html (a variation on the big-bang theory) then energy and mass are continually being created at the universal origin.

It's just not been proven, much less demonstrated.

EDIT Still waiting for someone to make this Thailand related or I'll have to move it to the pub, cheers for the smile Neverdie :)

#3920715 Overstay! Pattaya One Strongly Stands By Immigration Story

Posted maxman71 on 2010-10-01 11:54:04

I think most of the posts on this topic are missing the point entirely. The main takeaway for me is that many foreigners seem to think they can overstay as long as they like, fork over some cash and board a plane home. Overstaying a few days or so is one thing; but weeks/months, even a year??? What arrogance on the part visitors to Thailand who think such behavior is OK and that the Thai authorities should accomodate their flagrant intransigence. Such behavior is an insult to the Thai people, and foreigners who actually comply with the law. Personally, those who overstay beyond a few weeks should have the book thrown at them; jail time and a hefty fine. And perhaps being banned from being allowed to return to the Kingdom.

We can not return life to those dead. I wish we could. So let by gone be by gone. If the report is out, it will only show that most are killed by the soldiers and army snipers. This mean that there is a risk that Mark might be charged in international court, i.e. walked directly into the trap of Thaksin & Amsterdam. Hence these sensitive info is best kept lock up for 20 years, until the legal limit of prosecuting mark is over. Wise men say "No news is good news".
