The sad part is that this man will be out when he is 63.  He is still within the age range of being a danger of sexual assault to children.  His grand child, if she is a girl, will be 10 years old--well within the age range of his chosen victims.

In fact 11 years is the gross term. Usually one third is remitted. That leaves a of 7,3 years. Minus imprisonment before trail (say) 1 year. Leaves 6,3 years. To get used to his freedom, something like one year before his release he gets ‘days off’. So after something like 5 years you can see him again walking around the streets.

Maybe a bit late but it may be of interest to other readers.

As from early March you can exchange your (spotless) US$, Euros and HK$ at banks in Yangon an Mandalay.

In Yangon there is bank at the entrance to Scott Market.

In Mandalay there are two options. First option is the UAB bank inside the Diamond Plaza shopping centre and the second option is in a bank opposite this center. This bank has a sign with exchange rates hanging outside.

What is this for a mysterious "river in the underground"? Where does it come from, where does it go? Can you provide a link to some information? Thanks.

Here is a link for you. This is what the "river" consists of.

Well, I thouht that an aquifer is usually a waterbearing layer and not necessarily a river. Wher should the water go to in case this would be a river.

In Topic: Myanmar Visa

The exchange rate on the 5th of August was 1US$ = 762 Kyat’s. Info can be found on http://www.irrawaddy.org/ somewhere in the middle of the page (close to the cartoons).

In Yangon try to change in one of the jewellery shops at Scott market and not on the street.

Some upscale hotels accept Visa credit cards although this is not always a straight forward procedure.
