In Topic: My New 4S Takes Pictures Upside Down

I still have a problem with photo orientation when I email photos from my phone directly to my father. He says they are upside down. I have learned that is because the volume buttons are on the top. I now hold the phone upside down with the volume buttons on the bottom and he can see the photos correctly

Are you using the default Windows photo importer? The one where, when you plug your iPhone in, the 'AutoPlay' dialogue comes up? When you click 'Import Pictures and Videos', and the 'Import Pictures and Videos' dialogue box appears, there's an 'Import Settings' link on the bottom left - in that there's a check-box to 'Rotate pictures on import' - is that checked?

I wasnt using that option no but I have tried it and if i do it that way then it will rotate all of them before importing them, nice find cheers, looking at the MSDN post it seems maybe windows is at fault after all and they should fix this problem in windows 8 , i guess i can hide the problem in my head for the time being until it is fixed, still annoying that i cannot just open up apple Iphone in My Computer and then automatically rotate but there you go...

Can't you set up a trust?

To be administered by whom?  That's kind of the point of my questions.
Administrative Trustee Services from the Personal Trust Services Division of Charles Schwab Bank. Maybe they can help.

Does anyone know if a foriegner can open a bank account in India?  The interest rates are very good...
http://www.hdfcbank....fd_interest.htm
-you can if you have a long term visa or residence permit,

-interest rates look phantastic without taking into consideration that the Indian Rupee (INR) has lost 12-20% vs. major foreign currencies during the last 7 months and that Indian inflation is rampant at 9.5%.

-the rates published by HDFC are for INR deposits which canNOT be converted back into foreign currency!

-income tax applies.

summary: there is no free lunch.
Well theres the rub...... I guess I will make do with 5.5% a bit longer
I looked at Commonwealth banks Au site and I don't see the 5.5%

Balance Interest rate
$0 - $9,999 0.01 % p.a.
$10,000 - $19,999 2.75 % p.a.
$20,000 - $49,999 3.25 % p.a.
$50,000 - $99,999 3.25 % p.a.
$100,000 - $249,000 3.75 % p.a.
$250,000 - $499,999 4.00 % p.a.
$500,000 or more 4.25 % p.a.

I don't think that opening accounts in several counties is the best way to hold a basket of currencies. I believe that Naam has eluded to opening an account in Singapore with multiple currencies but when I have tried to find them in the past the rates of the currencies looked lower. Perhaps that has changed now.
Naam can you recommend a good reliable company in Singapore to do business with?

Hi guys!  True to form, the responses have been excellent.  A few follow up notes, and additional questions.  My job is actually in Hong Kong, which is a great town (minus the pollution) :(  Right now my cost for a small place in the mid-levels is running well over $1,000,000 USD (for a shoebox in the sky!)  Being American kids used to big house and blue sky, I can't in good conscience cram them into that, we need an alternate option.

Question to the poster on Myself getting an ED visa (to learn Thai, which would be great, love a challenge) and my wife and non ED children covered under me, but only on a "extension of stay".  Could you elaborate a bit on this?  We do have other reasons for wanting to come to Thailand, so really want to give it the old college try.  We have many friends in the Missions community up North, and would love to lend a hand.

All further thoughts welcome!
I had a friend that lived in HK with his family. He was an IT guy and not a manager . They lived on one of the islands and he took a ferry to work like many of the locals. I don't know the area but it is my impression that you have not looked at HK well enough. I think you would better serve your family if you found something like I described. Keeping your family together should be one of your highest priorities.

After talking to many schools in Bangkok, I have decided on Ascot International school for my girls as they were the only school which offered reasonable rates and the school is immaculate.
Can you share with us what the rates were? Thanks
