Yes it's sad that this is the only way they can support their aged parents and their children after being deserted by their butterfly wives.
not to forget the expensive medication for their cattle.

The shop is directly next to Foodland, I highly recommend it.  I use to pass the place often, and from the outside it looks quite expensive, but inside they have everything and there prices are great.

I used to walk past the place many times, thinking it looked expensive, but they have some great bargains in there

#5289525 Police Stopping Motorcyclists

Posted guzzi850m2 on 2012-05-10 20:19:27

Quad bikes (4 wheeled thing) can't be registered and thus can't ride/drive on the road legally here in Thailand.

Yes they have many good reasons for doing the checks; tourists rent bikes but properly 90% don't have a motorcycle driver license. Drunk driving, stolen bikes, drug dealers and the list goes on and on.

I drive both car and bikes here and I got stopped MANY times on the bike but since I have the Thai MC license and copy on the bike registration on me, they leave me alone.

Recently they seems to get much tougher, drunk driving and even jump a red light= spend the night in the slammer and go see a judge next day (if Friday night tough luck as the judge will not be back for work until Monday).
I think its fine, Thailand is one of the worst places I seen where the locals don't really care about traffic laws, maybe tougher enforcement will make them change their minds.

Hi Radiola
You are good for some entertainment on TV. But in reality you should stop day-dreaming, come over here for an extended period and check out all your ideas, questions and fantasies in person. Have you ever been to Thailand at all?  To answer your question. Renting is not easy and the problems for most landlords are even worse than in their home-country. Running it through an agent will probably leave you with 5-6% ROI, but then again it is location, services and amenities that will determine this.. For 10'000 Baht/mth you can find plenty nice studios in very good locations.Have a nice day. ER

I wonder if it's the return of Weho?????

I am not a resident but have visited 13 times and even went out of my way to schedule a trip there during Songkran.  I very much did not like it.  Just too long.  Too inconvenient and uncomfortable to do simple things like walk around the corner to drop off laundry, take a baht bus to the Big C, walk/bus over to Jomtien for the beach, or to just plain go outside for anything.  Make it a couple of days.  I definitely avoided one other vacation trip to Thailand because my time off coincided with Song Kran.  No big deal either way since that time of the year is not the best weather to be visiting anyway.

How very true. Villa in particular really has gone down.
I noticed that too. I was rather offended by a cashier there that gossiped her way through the checkout job, never met my eye,  didn't greet me even though I did to her, etc. I don't really need a wai, but that really leaves a bad taste. That said, I'll shop there if I need stuff and it's convenient. Not there to flirt with the cashiers ...

Honestly, that kind of bad treatment kind of makes me want to be rude back. How can you be rude to a cashier that doesn't care?

If I'm shopping alone, I just stand there looking at their face until they are forced to look at me, then I give a big smile and exaggerated "thankyou" - to emphasise my good manners.

If I'm with my wife, I just stand back and put my fingers in my ears...

1.pick a number
2.square it
3.divide it by the original number
4. substract the original number

The result is amount of fuc_ks the cashier gives about your good manners.

#5172640 What Peaves Do You Put Up With To Live Here

ThaiVisa members who sneer at all the members that have less money and smaller pensions than them.
ThaiVisa members who look down on Thais, the traditional Thai rural way of life, and the Thai education system.
ThaiVisa members who think their wife is better than other members wives because theirs is, educated, Chinese, wealthy, hi-so.
Young and good-looking ThaiVisa members who think their bar-girl purchase likes them more than they liked the fat, bald, old fart who purchased the same girl last/next week.
