The embarrassment of being bitch slapped by Justin Bieber of all people would guarantee my silence no matter if there was a multi million dollar payout on the table

The action of ignoring the thread also allows new members to have a little input......

Its an excellent point this. I remember joining this forum and making the first few posts. It can be a daunting experience for those new to forums or especially this one.

Its easy to attack a newbie but bad form in my opinion.

Unless the obvious troll type stuff of course.

#5333184 Isaan Trip Report

I still haven't been to Issan. Never really had a reason to go... You haven't really sold it to me though to be fair. Posted Image
The Op is one mans opinion, Hardly a bases for  conclusions,
I Just came back to the US from Isaan, where I stayed for several months, and my experience was entirely different. I was involved with doing some work at our property, and I had a hard time finding people to work for me, every one had steady jobs.In the morning when we were going to the property in the village, it looked funny because every one was driving the opposite direction going to work, It looked like a mad exodus same thing in the evening when we were leaving the village, and everyone was returning..Hardly a situation where all the man stayed home , drunk whiskey and slept.
When I come to Thailand, I spend one or two days in BKK and then head for Isaan, If i could fly directly to Khon Kaen, I would probably never see BKK, , The people are friendly , honest  and hard working, The land is beautiful, and the air is clean .
I love it there.
PS: there and in the other provinces is where the real Thailand is,

#5329560 My Thai Lady Is Lovely

Mine is lovely too (except for her narcissistic personality disorder)

She has given me a daughter and will soon give me a son

For that amazing gift, I love her (nearly) as much as I love cricket

#5328482 Do We Really Pay For It One Way Or Another?

Posted brit1984 on 2012-05-24 18:38:31

My (Thai) wife is from a wealthier family than my (British) family. She (and her family) have contributed more (financially) to me and my family (financially) than vice versa, but even if she contributed zero (financially) I would still love her.

While money is very important, there are more important things in life. My wife has been through pregnancy (and labour) and given us a daughter, and she is now pregnant again with our son (who will be a famous cricketer by the way).

My wife's (non-financial) contribution to the relationship is worth more to me than all the money in the world.

#5327248 Suphoth's Resignation Will Not Affect Probe: Unusual Wealth

Posted Arkady on 2012-05-24 11:54:48

Some Thais say he was a bag man who collected all the bribes from road contractors in person.  And that towards the end of the Abhisit government he foresaw their demise at the polls and suspended payment of the mandated monthly rent of Bt 10 million to nominees of the man behind the party that controlled the Transport Ministry.  After the elections, knowing that he had a large amount of cash awaiting laundering and/or distribution to co-conspirators in his house, they decided to take their revenge by arranging the burglary, while he was out at his daughter's wedding.  Of course I don't believe these scurrilous rumours about a law abiding civil servant who has made it clear that the cash payments were all honestly earned consulting fees from companies in the construction sector for work done in his free time over 10 to 20 years that he declared for income tax. He was busy with his onerous duties at the ministry he just hadn't been able to find time to get to the bank to deposit the money and stacked up under his bed for safekeeping instead.

He will have to get off unpunished or with a slap on the wrist because it is unthinkable for a "poo yai" of his status to go to jail for merely looting the taxpayer but it will be a costly undertaking and his enemies have the satisfaction of seeing him bogged down in legal proceedings for years.

#5324065 What Is The Pattaya "Dark Side"

It's a place with no gogo bars within reach, so boring like hell but you save money.
Rent is also less than half so again you save yourself money

The Dark Side has it's share of raunchy places to go. You just need to know where they are. Certainly no need to go into Pattaya if that is the sort of thing you are looking for

#5320566 Sex Tourism To Thailand And Indonesia Driving Rise In HIV Cases

Posted manarak on 2012-05-22 00:02:11

everyone should read up on the subject before making false statements.

here is a collection of links:

Misconceptions about HIV
http://en.wikipedia....ut_HIV_and_AIDS
Thailand HIV - Country situation analysis http://www.unaids.or...a/ASITHA_en.pdf
Thailand HIV - 2010 Country Progress Report http://www.unaids.or...s_report_en.pdf
Thailand HIV - epidemiological fact sheet http://158.232.15.29...n&pdfoption=epi
Thailand HIV - 2012 Country Progress Report http://www.unaids.or...e_Report[1].pdf

I'd like to extend that collection of links with any additional source of hard facts/statistical information you may have, about HIV in general or in Thailand in particular.

Thank you.

P.S.
about the debate on infection rates, I'd like to direct your attention to the statistics pertaining to the different provinces.
Thai provinces not known for western sex tourism have among the highest infection rates especially among freelancers, so it can be inferred that the infection rates for freelancers and venues catering to the Thai clients (or cambodian, burmese...) are much higher than the rates among sex workers catering to foreigners.
Let's not forget 90% (probably more) of the Thai sex trade takes place between Thais.

#5318203 Sex Tourism To Thailand And Indonesia Driving Rise In HIV Cases

Posted DP25 on 2012-05-21 07:44:30

From later in the article -

Quote

"I would want to get that message out again about safe sex - I don't know how much young men are aware that Thailand is the HIV capital of the world," Dr Kidd said.

This guy is a f*%&ing moron and that isn't even remotely true.  New infections in Thailand have dropped from +150,000 per year in the early 90s to 10,000 per year now, roughly the same per capita level as the United States.  Southern African countries have 20-30% of the population infected and Thailand has less than 1%, and most of them infected more than 10 years ago and the number of new cases are relatively small.

I don't know if he is incredibly misinformed or he is deliberately spreading misinformation to keep people away from Thailand or because he is against prostitution for moral reasons.  Either way he is an uninformed bigot
