You need to have id including address in the name you booked the test. If the UKBA letter, passport and test used the same name you should complain to the test centre.

The tests are run in a very similar way to driving theory tests. My wife found the staff in Southampton ranged from really helpful to downright rude and obstructive.

There is a helpline for the service!

0800 015 4245

Likewise, the member of staff at the test centre was very rude from the moment we arrived. I have put in a complaint and a claim for a refund but to be honest i dont hold much hope of getting our money back.

Today I have rang around trying to get a utility bill sent out in my wifes name, If Mr and Mrs Kadafi is on a utility bill will that be excepted or does it have to show her full name?

She booked the test in her married name, she showed her passport in her married name. The UKBA letter had the correct address but was in her maiden name, in which she showed her maiden passport also.

Even though she showed both passports they refused her, told her to obtain a ukba letter with her married surname and rebook the test.

Thanks, my wife will get to the airport with plenty of time to spare so hopefully all should be all right. Some airlines im sure will try it on to make you buy another ticket, if its proved the passenger is the same person but has changed her name due to marriage there is no way they can justify asking for the ticket to be paid for again.

Her old uk visa was about to expire, we travelled back to thailand. We got married in thailand, changed her passport and applied for a new uk visa. Her old passport was taken when she applied for the new one.

So basically she has 1 thai passport which has her marriage name in it and also her uk visa. The return flight was booked in the uk while she was staying here, we flew out, married, passport change, new visa and now coming back so obviously flight details were booked when she was not married.

New passport, new visa in new passport, have your marriage certificate and translation, only the airline to sort it out with, that's what we did with Thai airways, no problemo.
Congrats on your marriage Mr Kadafi.:D

Cheers  :D happy days! yeah im sure with marriage certificate there shouldn't be much of an issue.

Especially with a name like yours..

Mrs Kadafi welcome  :jap:  :D

I feel for the OP situation because ive just been separated from my wife for the last 6 months which was HELL and feels more like 18 months to be honest. I was in a similar situation having spend 4 years in Thailand in which i never worked,we have a child and i applied for a visit visa instead of a settlement and it was quickly granted. After the visit visa expired was when we had to spend 6 months apart due to my wife being unable to apply for a settlement(under 21).

Wish you all the best, personally i think you have no choice but to work in the UK for 3-4 months to build up payslips etc and then reapply for a visa for you wife.

They believe you are using a family visit visa in order to get your wife into the country and then maybe use human rights due to having a child to prevent her from leaving, this has been used against them before. You have no property? savings? or income? they just wont take a risk as it could cost us tax payers money.
