Bar Closings In Bangkok

As many of you know the bars in certain areas in Bangkok were closed/didn't sell alcohol or sold alcohol in paper cups, on 3 and 4 december (pre-election). The same confusion will reign in two weeks (election).

Where can I find the election dates (and areas 'affected')?

Extend An Entry Stamp?

I will be entering Thailand over land from Laos.
So I will get a stamp in my passport that allows me to stay for 15 days.
What can I do if I want to stay 3 or 4 weeks? Can I go to immigration in Bangkok (or an other big city) to extend my 15 days?
