Thai Post 7 Baht Fee For Package

Lately some packages from overseas have been assessed a 7 baht fee by the Thai post office. The postman collects it when he delivers the package. There is an official rubber stamp in Thai on the package that says something but I don't know what it says. Thais I have shown it to cannot explain it in English. I cannot figure out what this fee is for. Can anyone enlighten me?

New 90 Day Notification Procedure

I went to Bangkok Immigration on Chaeng Wattanna this week to do my 90 notification. They have a new procedure which will hopefully streamline the process. We can only hope that it also will open up more channels to report such as internet, etc. Now when you do your 90 report they process your form right at the windows. A computerized receipt is printed which contains a new already filled out TM47. The next time you go in you just bring the entire A4 paper, date it at the top and sign it. If you have moved you just note your new address on the pre-printed form.

Ais And Tot3G - What'S Going On?

Back in January all the Thai press was abuzz with a new deal between AIS and TOT3G to allow data roaming for AIS customers on TOT3G's network. It said the deal would go into effect at the end of February and you would need to get a new sim card from AIS. In March I called AIS and they said there is no new SIM and now way for an AIS customer to roam on TOT3G for data. What's going on? Did the deal fall through again for the umpteenth time? Or is there some magic word I need to say to get the sim?

TOT3G only has 10,000 active subscribers so they need some revenue and their network is way underused as it was built out for 500,000 users. There is also some rumors that AIS is in negotiation with TOT to purchase TOT3G, thus giving AIS a legal 3G license. Let's hope that happens.

True Dsl Internet Problems - International Traffic On 18-Mar-54

Is anyone else having trouble connecting to websites outside of Thailand tonight (18-Mar-54)? All Thai based websites are responding very fast, but any websites in other countries are responding very slow or not at all. I cannot get through to True on either telephone or chat. Anyone else experiencing these problems tonight?
