Hi,
Usually I just fly with whatever airlines is the cheapest rather than collect airmiles. So over the years I've flown Eva, BA, Jet, Emirates, Thai & Etihad.
For direct I prefer Eva as I feel they're better in terms of service and price than BA & Thai.
However, now I'm not travelling alone I have to be more conscious of price and also want a good overall flight experience. I don't want a long stop-over either. Therefore I'm thinking of flying with Qatar or Etihad as I believe these both offer short stop-overs (about 2 hrs) so ok to stretch legs and get back on another flight.
Just wondered if anybody had any experience of what the best airline is in terms of collecting airmiles (as they don't all use the same amount of miles for flights). Surely it would make sense for all airlines to redeem miles based on the ACTUAL distance? Sounds simple doesn't it? But like mobile phone networks, etc they all do their own thing in order to confuse customers it seems.
The experience has to be good quality, I don't want to fly on an airline that doesn't offer on-demand films, good service, etc.
All comments appreciated
Cheers

Cheap Large Strong Sports Holdalls - Where Do They Sell Them?
2010-09-29 14:34:22
Been looking for these without much luck. Tesco's and Big C only seem to sell suitcases which I don't want and the copies for falangs are too small, rubbish quality and expensive for what they are.
Does anyone know where I can buy thai or unbranded sports holdalls as don't want branded Nike type ones.
Many thanks

2 Hr Gap Between Flight Arriving At Bkk And Next Flight Departure
2010-09-18 20:40:05
I've just booked a flight from LHR (Jet Airways) via India to BKK and there is a 2hr gap between my arrival and the time I need to get a domestic flight.
My question is - will this be enought time to get me through customs with bag, etc and into domestic check-in desk? Is there anything I can do to speed up the process? A friend said they could transfer my bag but the two airlines aren't part of the same alliance so that's the problem. So I'm guessing I'll have to go through customs, etc everything only to go back on a domestic plane?
Has anybody else had any experience with this kind of problem before?
Thanks

Spelling Mistake On Uk Settlement Visa
2010-09-17 22:39:43
My wife said her son's name on the visa has an "n" instead of an "m" on the last letter of his surname (different surname to my wife's married name (mine)). Will this be a problem as it doesn't match his passport because of this - he's 3.5 years old. Will Customs officials really be that pedantic?
Should I ring the Embassy? Do I need to get a replacement visa?
