#5327402 Know Your Rights: Photography In Public

Posted BangkokImages on 2012-05-24 12:42:14

Great subject!

Many malls and other public places are restricting photography where they haven't before.  Anywhere children play can be a minefield.

And there's the related subject of what you do with the picture.  It might be legal to take the image, but that same image could get you sued if you tried to publish it, or publish it in a certain venue, or if for profit, or maliciously... it's getting very complicated and it's a subject which is constantly evolving.

In Thailand.. wow.. so many changes.  You really need to pay attention to the reactions of people around you when you point your camera, many are becoming very hostile and/or suspicious towards anyone with a camera.  Especially foriengers.

I've developed methods I'll deploy depending on the circumstances, and these methods have turned into a small bag of tricks depending..

If in doubt ask, but unless you're asking a lawyer who is experienced with the subject and keeps current you're taking your chances.  And of course you'll always get 4-5 different people who disagree with any given take..

Agreed.
But has Thailand enacted similar laws to the 7th amendment pertaining to photography?

I for one hate the paparazzi following me Posted Image

Sorry, perhaps I wasn't clear. Normally when one makes a post there's a little blue box displayed on the right which says "Like This". It's not appearing in recent posts that I have made. I may be a bit daft and well into my dotage, but I certainly would not click on the "Like This" box for my own posts.

Unless, of course, I came upon it and recognised the brilliance of it but failed to notice it was one of mine. A problem with the aged, I'm afraid.

Do you see the box beside other people's posts?

Yes, I do. For instance, it appears beside your post #4 above, but not beside my post #3 above yours. It also appears on Thaddeus's #3. It's terrible to feel so left out.......

Its perfectly normal. I don't see a like box beside my post either. This is to prevent you giving yourself likes.

Yep, no self gratification allowed on forum time.

Bit confused here Rich, by my recent posts do you mean posts that you have made?

If so, they have never had that option on them, you can't 'Like' your own posts.

Not that it matters that much, but I'm curious to know why my recent posts do not have the "Like this" box displayed. Have I accidentally disabled it? If so, how do I go about restoring it?

it's beautiful and original place

where is Nong Nooch ?

It's the tourist gardens about 30 mins drive outside Pattaya.
http://www.nongnooch...icalgarden.com/  When I click the English version, I keep getting the 'Flash Error', don't know why.

Personally I reckon it's a great place.  Mainly because of the variety of views, contrasting forms and shapes.

Has a cultural show, elephant show and the famous gardens portrayed above ... and I agree with all the posters above Photo #2 has something about it.

A little something for everyone ... even a happy snapper like me ...

EDIT:- OK ... I couldn't resist ... DSC03686 LR.JPG

I think  that in many cases, the OP has been slagged off, made fun of, his question has been scrutinized and critisized, maybe hes not a native English speaker and every single error will be pointed out in his post, if it's concerning his GF or Wife then she is run through the mill and accused of being a whore and a liar etc etc.

Anything concerning the OP spending any money in Thailand will be met with the usual comments about how stupid he is and he'll lose the lot etc etc etc.

Anything about Thai people will be met with the usual anti Thai negative posts etc etc.

I understand why they don't come back, hardly surprising to me.

Yes....quite the civilised and pleasant place to hang one's hat.Posted Image

Jeff  -  latching on to a thread that is over a year and half old is odd - even for you :)

However the topic is still at hand "Cardholder" or is it too OLD (the topic for you to say Tks as well)  and why are you still a "P" member when you Kan/could change it as you do have more that 500 posts that are required.

Win

Oops. Didn't realise I could change.

Will now consider my option.

Kan Win,

I have always appreciated your photos and the time that you have taken to upload them.

If I haven't said it

THANK YOU for showing us parts of Thailand that we probably would never see.

This is not a nasty post - just one that I should have said years ago.

The OP probably does not consider it of importance , the way children are getting 'Dragged up ' in recent times it may not even have been considered as the decent thing to do . Just ignore him next time .

:D

Happens all the time, Kan... even in real life. I've found expensive items (fly boxes, knives, fishing tackle, and once a camera etc) along the river and I've taken the time to post it on a forum. Then, when I DO find the owner and mail it to him at my own expense, I don't get the courtesy of a simple thank you.

I just chalk it up to bad manners, but it doesn't stop me from helping others. I'd rather make one person's day than worry too much about all the uncouth boors.
