Recommended Tour Company? Around Bts

2012-05-08 18:33:32

I tried searching but couldn't find this information.

I'd like a company which sells tour packages for trips to other Asian countries.  For example, something like a 5 day tour of Indonesia, with everything included.

The sort of luxury level I'm interested in is mid-level: not backpacker, but not necessarily luxury either.

Something near the BTS Sukhumvit line is preferred.

Thanks.

Where To Buy Thai Language Textbook Series For Thai Students?

2012-04-15 19:46:36

I found the wonderful Manee series linked to here: http://blog.joshsager.com/downloads/

This is the Thai language textbook which every Thai student went through, on a daily basis, from elementary school grades 1 through 6.  Apparently they discontinued this course about 15-20 years ago, but they have a new set of books.  I heard that it's something like a single series which all Thai students go through from grades 1 through 12.

Does anybody know what i'm talking about?  Where can I buy these books?

Thanks.

A Couple Of Questions On Learning Materials, Any Help Is Appreciated

2012-04-04 20:10:49

I've been self-studying Thai pretty intensively this year, and am finishing up Thai for Intermediate Learners by Benjawan Poomsan Becker.  If you can help with either of these questions I'd really appreciate it.

1.  I've been trying to find basic stuff I can read, but it's been hard.  Traditional children's books tend to still contain a very large vocabulary universe (I would guess they pull words from the 5,000-10,000 most frequent Thai words), and also contain obscure "childish" words.

At the big bookstore at Emporium, they have a whole section of books for children native learners of English that I would love to find something similar for Thai children.  The books feature stores written using only the top X most frequent words in the English language.  There are the top 300 words, top 1,000, etc.

is there anything similar for Thai?  Books featuring only the most common Thai words?

2. I've been considering the Chula intensive course, but don't have the time for its full-time nature.  I would like to pick up the course materials and use them to self-study, perhaps even jumping in at a higher level at some point in the future if I have the time.  I called them up and they said the materials are not available unless you take the class, but I remember reading a thread here one time where somebody said where you can buy them.  Unfortunately, I'm unable to find that thread again.

Where can I find these materials?

Thanks.

Iphone App Like Pandora For International?

2010-11-07 13:20:05

When I lived in the US, Pandora was my main music.  But unfortunately it doesn't work internationally due to licensing issues.

Is there another app like Pandora that will work in Thailand/internationally?  For the computer, I found a neat website called stereomood.com that does work, though it's no Pandora.

On a related note, I heard some people getting Netflix to work in Thailand.  Is that difficult to set up?

Thanks.

Calendar Mobileme Sync Always Messes Up Dates/Times

2010-10-23 14:10:14

So I'll enter in something on my Iphone calendar.  For example, Oct 24, at 9pm, there's an event.

But after the MobileMe sync, it shows up on my Macbook calendar as Oct 25, 11am.

Any help is appreciated.
