#3903024 Would You Like The Option To Turn Off The Reputation Feature For You?

Posted Jingthing on 2010-09-23 23:42:55

Personally, the reputation thing is a nasty distraction for me. Yes, I do use it, but I would much prefer the OPTION to be able to TURN IT OFF so that I couldn't give or get reds or greens, and my reputation would be stuck eternally at ZERO.

Now we know the management here likes the feature for financial reasons, so our desires are not the highest priority here. So we know the feature isn't going away.

But what about the OPTION of turning it off for OURSELVES, user by user? Wouldn't it nice to have the CHOICE to participate in this game, or not? Would you USE that option to turn off the feature for YOU?

No.
You apply for a 12 month extension at Immigration.
Next year you do the same.
Every year you do the same.
You never have to leave.
You need 400,000 Baht in the bank 2 months before you apply.

(6) In case of marriage with a Thai lady, the husband who is an alien must have an average annual income of not less than 40,000 baht per month or a money deposit in a local Thai bank of not less than 400,000 baht for the past 2 months for expenses within a year.

Generally, the info is correct.

But then be prepared for the Thailand style of doing biz too.

Immig laws can be updated, changed or amended, if and when some short-sighted officers deem Farangs are getting the better end of the deal. LOL

An acquaintance exchanged Euro worth 2mil supposedly so he could live peacefully with his Thai wife.

The Thai wife is perfect but her parents and relatives are not.

Just watch your finance and where and to whom your money flows to.

There are just too many supposedly falling in love and forgetting the reality of life and the rest of what is imperative.

Good Luck to you and yours.

Medical expense is not prohibitive here and the service and care are acceptable, if you choose wisely.

On the other hand, a close friend, spent eight days in Bangkok Hospital, the final settlement was over 1.2 mil TH baht.  :violin:

The mistaken stand that because the cause is not completely clear no action is possible or at least a waste of money cannot be right.
Raise the money needed by levying a huge tax on every country with an active volcano.

Volcanic eruptions actually release suphur dioxide which cools the atmosphere. So they may be our great hope in terms of halting so-called "global warming"
The cooling effect of sulphur dioxide released by volcanoes is very short lived. And they also kick out other stuff....

Quote

Chlorine

Chlorine gas can negatively effect the earth's environment. Chlorine is emitted from volcanoes in the form of hydrochloric acid (HCl), which breaks down into chlorine and chlorine monoxide (ClO) molecules. The sulfate aerosols furnish sites for chemical reactions that release the chlorine atoms. These eruption-derived chlorine atoms are added to man-produced chlorine already present in the stratosphere. The reactive chlorine atoms then proceed to destroy ozone, with each chlorine atom being recycled many times.

The issue I have with "the world's heating up and it's our fault" brigade is that they tend to focus on CO2 as being the only reason, there are many factors in what causes climate change, and 'man' makes very little contribution to most of them.

Paul and Arthur said it best.

"all lies and jests, still a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest"

(P.S. still gave you a greenie though for at least thinking about it)

#3875442 Stranded And Now Overstayed

Posted Scott on 2010-09-10 21:07:48

Many years ago, I was approached by a rather rugged looking foreigner in MBK in BKK.  I didn't see him coming until he tapped me on the shoulder.  I got a sob story about having been robbed or lost his wallet and he wanted to know if I could lend him 500 baht.  At that time, 500 baht was a good sum of money.  He needed it to get to his hotel, contact someone, blah, blah, blah.  He said he worked on an oil rig, blah, blah, blah.  He was dirty and shabby and I was so taken aback that I promptly reached in my wallet and gave him 500 baht.  I walked away and he came running up and asked for my address, which I reluctantly gave him (I figured he'd be on my doorstep in a couple of days).

Low and behold about 6 weeks later I get a nice letter thanking me for my kindness and 2 crisp 100 US $ bills.

I hope the OP gets things sorted out.  Not a nice position to be in.
