The reason no place of issue is mentioned in a UK passport, is that this is one of the security questions immigration officers ask you, when they want to know if this is your real passport or a fake one.
They have access to this info on line to verify that you are the original passport holder.

I think it is up to the discretion of the head of the shift of immigration at your point of entry.
Similarly I have changed nationality at Aranyaprathet but it was a problem and the head of shift was called to confirm that all the details in both passport where the same. There also has to be a valid reason for a change!
So it is possible but is never easy!

Can someone confirm that it is 3 years of tax not 5 years?
Even though I make no money in Thailand, I was told that as long I have paid tax on 80 k a month for 5 years and have a work permit at the time of application that I would be accepted in the application process?
Thanks

Exact time and date keeping has been a product of 9/11 and the lovely TSA.
I remember about 15 years ago talking to my wife's grandfather who was reputed to be 115 years old and born 5 years after King Chulalongkorn. He could remember many real fascinating facts of the Chula era.
When I pushed him for his birth day and year he sad he was born around rice harvest time in the year of the Rabbit. Can you imagine putting that in your passport? How would the TSA react?
Precise dates and land borders are a product of the bad old 20th century!

Problem is that different government departments (Land Transport, Immigration and foreign ministry) all have different numbering systems for my nationality.
As I have stated before the personal government fiefdom system, seems to preclude a standardized numbering classification for nationality across all Thai Government Departments.
