Maybe I'm a cynic, actually I know I am one, but this seems like a put up to me. Reads too much like a romantic fantasy.
Whatever it may be you can be sure he'll be getting tonnes of attention from the ladies now for being sooooo sweet.

Any follow up to this story?
I remember seeing this in the Nation (I was in a waiting roomand there was nothing else to read) and it did not appear as a news article or as an editorial. Instead it was printed in the "letters to editors" section.
I kind of think its rather strange that a story regarding their own journalist/staff appears in the "letters" section and not as an actual news story.
Thats why I am wondering if there is any follow up?

So it just ends like that?
Did the author go to the police to report the incident? What happened at the police station, what was the reaction? What were the conclusions of the police?
Telling the whole story is the point of reporting, of journalism. Not just the sensational bits.

For those that point out bill gates, Branson etc are billionaires who do not have degrees. Shouldnt it also be noted for everyone of them they are probably millions who are now in employed inthe exciting field of mall security?
Personally I don't think a degree matters after the person have had several years working experience, unless of course it's in a specialized position.
Would you be asking this question if the person in question was Thai?
