Passport Swapping At Borders

2012-01-31 16:38:55

A good friend of mine has a problem:

She has British and Thai citizenship, but is in Thailand on her British PP.
Her visa, or extension of stay (not sure which one) is due on Feb. 12th.
Her British PP is only valid until May 2012 (less than 6 month- problem with flying).
She wants/has to travel to Europe this May.

Does anyone have a clue how she can make it possible to fly to Europe this May?

I thought of swapping PP, so she would be in Thailand with her Thai PP while she sends her British to Hongkong for renewal.

Living in Chiang Mai, so Mae Sai would be convenient, but I suppose PP swapping at land borders are not legal.

Any ideas how she can legally do this?

Social Security

Hi to you aliens (sic) working in Thailand!
I have tried get info regarding
SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS TO BE USED FOR APPLYING FOR THE COMPENSATION BENEFITS

on SSO website http://www.sso.go.th...eng/retrie.html

There is this one repuirement which confuses me: A copy of the Citizenship Identity Card

Does that mean that only Thai citizens, or "Aliens" with resident status, are entitled to old age benefits?

Would appreciate to receive anwers from readers with experience or reliable knowledge on this issue.

My try to contact SSO via email gave me just a return mail in Thai, saying to call their 24 hour 1506 call center. Which I may do, if I am not able to get an answer on TV in English.

Departure Shortly After Midnight

2011-08-13 12:20:05

A friend of mine flies out of BKK airport at 00:20. He obviously has to go through immigration well before midnight.
Do his last 20 min. before departure count as a overstay for him?
As he will be on his last day, or maybe even stretching out his 1 "free" overstay day of his 15 days Visa exempt entry? He is well aware that 1 day overstay will be not punished, but would prefer to stay another day in Penang, rather than paying 1.000 Baht for just 20 min. of staying in the kingdom.

Would some kind soul care to give me the right answer please?
