i love this quote:

The fake banknotes are smaller in size than the real one and when you pour water on the fake ones the color will fade.

Good god, if you are going to go to all the trouble of counterfeiting money, i would think the dimensions of the bill itself would be the one thing that is actually easy to get right.
If you make them just a little bit shorter, you can get six out of an A4 sheet. :D

#5252849 Short Changed Again...

What were you buying in a 7/11 that would warrent you proffering a B1,000 Note?
And why does the 3x counting have any relevance!

I thought a bottle of water, paid for with 1000B note, was standard procedure for getting a note of use.

I can't say I'm short changed here often at all, and have noticed no recent change in the pattern, in fact I can't remember the last time I was short changed - I check every time.

#5216789 Security Tightened On Bangkok's Khao San Road For Songkran Festival

Posted jonclark on 2012-04-14 07:31:54

After realizing yesterday that i was becoming a grumpy old man, i decided to buck the trend and took a visit to khao san on Songkran to see if i had become as miserable and grumpy as i thought i might have become. I was pleasantly surprised - had a great time and realized that there is still life in the old dog yet.

As for Khao San the BiB are doing a really good job, very visible, friendly and don't mind too much when you give em  a good dousing with the water pistol.

You can buy things like Jenga and Monopoly at Lotus, there are some shops near Pantip plaza that sell Remote controll cars and airplanes.

As for the sporting goods. Robinson Airport Plaza has some good camping gear, but it is rather expensive.

#5111768 Thailand's Sex Workers Don't Want To Be 'Rescued'

SOME sex workers don't want to be rescued.  I'm sure there are tens of thousands out there that are being exploited / extorted / forced and would love to be rescued.
Perhaps there is a small % who would like to be 'rescued' - yet perhaps there are a greater % of indentured maids, clearing 20 baht a day, forced to work 24/7 for rich Chinese -Thai families who would also like to be 'rescued.' Sex workers, with few exceptions, can walk away if they choose. The #1 reason for sex worker harassment is Christian aid groups motivated by their western puritanical superiority complexes. I had a Christian group wanting to rent my large house. They were planning to do 'improvements' to it - which would have turned it in to a fortress to keep 'rescued sex workers' from having visitors and/or breaking out. I said 'no' to the house rental proposal.

#5110433 What Are The Advantages Of Buying Property In Chiang Mai

Posted lannarebirth on 2012-03-05 18:11:20

I bought a house about 7.5 years ago.  I figure, right about now would be the break even point on what I'd have paid had I rented it versus buying it, Not taking into consideration the currency I bought it with has depreciated 30% + since then and it's market value has doubled (according to the recent unsolicited offer I had).  I tend not to think about that stuff, as its my home.  I feel sorry for people that see their home as one of their investments.
